I did not expect myself to be as deeply moved as I was by this book. I have always admired Apple products and been a fan of Jobs' product pitches. It does not take much for me to get sucked in into his legendary reality distortion field. But even then, in my mind, I partly subscribed to the notion that Jobs, while being a marketing wizard, was probably more adept at appropriating inventions than being a great inventor himself. So it was greatly revealing to discover the extent that his own insights and intuition went into making all these great products.

Isaacson received unprecedented access and therefore, it can be a very personal book at times. Moreover, Jobs did not seek to impose any form of censorship whatsoever. So Jobs, the man beyond the icon, is revealed with all his warts and foibles. And strangely, while it becomes fairly obvious that he could be a very unpleasant man, you come to be believe that perhaps by driving people as hard as he did, he probably enabled them to achieve what would otherwise have not been possible. It is fascinating to to be able to peek into the mind of one of the greatest icons of our generation, and realize the true extent of his genius. A great read overall.
