it was ok

It was ok but you wonder if Isaacson was told to come in at at a certain coffee table weight or 1000 pages - or maybe the primary editor died halfway through the edit or something.

Guess what? SJ unlike so many successful people before him was an obsessive compulsive workaholic...

I guess the open/closed/integrated/cobbled together thing is interesting but maybe it's a bit like being Republican or Democrat - you just 'are' one or the other and there's little point in trying to convert someone. You do wonder though despite his harping on this point whether he kind of missed that technology adoption has stages. Maybe the market likes simplicity in the early stages of a technology like smartphones or computers but in the later stages when everyone gets familiar with it they want complexity/customization.

But as an IT person who watched Apple get crushed in the mid 90s by the PC wave from dozens of manufacturers the Apple v Android battle sure does seem ominously familiar.
