it was amazing

Okay, the book was a good read and well-written, but I gave it five stars because I love the guy, not the author. Steve Jobs is the kind of guy I go through life wishing I could find and emulate.

You know that feeling you get when you open up a new Apple product? I have often said there should be a word for that feeling. It's like you know you are in the presence of something elegant and excellent. Well, the reason Apple products look that way is because of Steve Jobs. He was a person who was never satisfied with the mediocre or with something that wasn't done right. I know very little about technology, but I know that whether you're talking about a guide dog for blind people (the product which I myself am responsible for producing) or a computer, your company will never produce the best product unless someone high up, the creative engine revving the whole business, is down on the production floor with his nose in every detail of the product looking for things that aren't right.

That person doesn't have to be a nice guy, and it doesn't sound like Steve Jobs really was a nice guy. But maybe he wasn't meant to be a nice guy. Maybe the way for him to be the person he was supposed to be was for him to supervise the intersection of design, engineering, and creativity, and, in his words, "move the human race forward". I think he did that. R.I.P., Steve Jobs.
