Steve Jobs was a complex person and far from being a nice guy; ironic considering his belief in Buddhism. His passion, intensity and binary perspective let him focus on building quality products and the most successful tech company. However, he wasn't praised for his tact when it came to dealing with people. His focus was described by the author as a laser beam; he either completely ignored or vividly embraced people. In which also applied to his family.

He had an uncanny ability to form A teams due to being brutally honest if he did not like something (which he often didn't). He decided to request Walter Isaacson to work on his biography due to his previous quality work on figures like Benjamin Franklin and Albert Einstein. The reason Jobs went through with this book is that he thought that after his death people would write about him and that they would probably get it wrong; often ignoring them, another reason he wanted to make this book was so that his kids could get to know him better. In the end what you have is a raw unbiased book that is deeply personal yet takes all kinds of perspectives into account. It's the best book on entrepreneurship and innovation to date. I'm glad to have read it and I will always treasure it.
