Steve Jobs

I have followed the story of Apple and Steve Jobs since my first word processing class on an Apple II in the 1980's, so many of the events in this book were familiar. This biography gives depth and context to those events, and illuminates the complex personality of the main character. Steve Jobs was a creative genius on many levels, and this book increased my admiration for the man, even as I was horrified at descriptions of his more insufferable behavior. Isaacson deftly examines that unique combination of traits that drove Jobs to change the world, reinventing computers, the music business, telephony, retailing and corporate culture. As the author says of Jobs' legacy, "History will place him in the pantheon right next to Edison and Ford."
