While a biography of Steve Jobs, the book's true value is in the overview of the history of personal computing devices, as Steve Jobs saw it.

All too often the history of technology focuses on single product releases and not about the thought and process that got to the release. That it discusses the blending of "humanities and technology" as often repeated is important not just to understanding Jobs' approach, but to understand how and why computers became personal devices for the average consumer.

Many will lean on this book as a bible of sorts, relaying the stories of a visionary. However, even if you don't prescribe to that degree of fanboy culture, it is worth a read to learn and understand Jobs' contributions to computing technology as we know it today.

(PS - I personally enjoyed the many references to the founders of Silicon Valley, the new players, and the details of the Jobs-Gates relationship. Many thoughtful anecdotes.)
