Arkansas continues to report more cases than any other state. The number of typhoid cases has remained relatively constant since 1970. About one-half of the cases reported in the United States are acquired during foreign travel. The source of domestically acquired typhoid is usually a chronic carrier of Salmonella typhi, but some infections are acquired in laboratories. |
