An Act To authorize the acquisition of additional land for enlarging the Capitol Grounds.

Be it enacted by the Senate and House of Representatives of the United States of America in Congress assembled, That paragraph (1) of section 2 of the Act entitled "An Act to provide for the enlarging of the Capitol Grounds," approved March 4, 1929, as amended, is amended by adding after the first sentence thereof the following: "The Architect of the Capitol is authorized to acquire in like manner for such purposes all or any part of the lands, including buildings or other structures, in lot 801 of square 574 and lot 821 of square 630 as such squares appear on the records of the office of the Surveyor of the District of Columbia as of the date of the approval of this amendatory Act.

AN ACT

To create the Capital Auditorium Commission.

Be it enacted by the Senate and House of Representatives of the United States of America in Congress assembled, That there is hereby created a Commission to consist of the chairman and the ranking minority member of the Committee on Public Buildings and Grounds of the House of Representatives, the chairman and the ranking minority member of the Committee on Public Buildings and Grounds of the Senate, and the Secretary of the Interior, said Commission to be known as the Capital Auditorium Commission. Said Commission shall be authorized to investigate as to desirable sites for an auditorium to be constructed in the city of Washington with sufficient capacity, in the opinion of the Commission, to meet the requirements of public convenience and necessity.

The Commission is authorized to ascertain the approximate cost of a suitable site and of the erection of an auditorium thereon and to formulate plans, and to recommend how that cost shall be borne and how the auditorium, when constructed, shall be controlled and supervised. The Commission shall report to the Congress its plans and recommendations for legislation to carry out the same at any time during the present session of the Congress.

Joint Resolution Authorizing the transfer to the jurisdiction of the Joint Committee on the Library certain reservations in the District of Columbia for use in connection with the Botanic Garden.

Resolved by the Senate and House of Representatives of the United States of America in Congress assembled, That the Chief of Engineers, United States Army, is hereby authorized and directed to transfer to the jurisdiction of the Joint Committee on the Library the following United States reservations for use in connection with the Botanic Garden: Numbered 6-A, 6-B, 6-C, 6-D, 6-E, 6-F, 6-G, 6-H, 6-I, 6–K, 6–L, 6–M, 6–N, 6–Ó, 6–P, 6-Q, 6-R, 292, and 293, all of which lie along the site of the old James Creek Canal, from Maryland Avenue to P Street southwest, Washington, in the District of Columbia. Approved, May 11, 1922.
