This Certificate is given under the provisions of the Act of Congress approved July 1, 1902, "to authorize the Secretary of War to furnish certificates in lieu of lost or destroyed discharges" to honorably discharged officers or enlisted men or their widows, upon evidence that the original discharge certificate has been lost or destroyed, and upon the condition imposed by said Act that this certificate "shall not be accepted as a voucher for the payment of any claim against the United States for pay, bounty, or other allowances, or as evidence in any other oase."

NOTE-This certificate is issued from the office of The Adjutant General of the Army without erasure. Any addition, alteration, or erasure made thereon is unauthorized.

date and place of his birth as 16 June 1919, Pointe Coupe,
Louisiana. He left the United States for foreign service 17 June
1943, arrived in North Africa 25 June 1943; left North Africa for
the United States 15 January 1945, arrived at 30ston Port of
Embarkation 25 January 1945. He was discharged 28 January 1945 at
Camp Shelby, Mississippi, a private, Unassigned, under the provi-
sions of Army Regulations 615-368, on WD AGO Form No. 53-56.

AIRPLANE AND MIGOS MECHANIC-- Performed duties at an AAT Bombardier Training Base in the continental United States. Was responsible for the inspection and repair of a flight of 12 twin-engine bombing trainer planes. Supervised the work of four sechanics. Assisted mechanics in making inspections, engine tests, and repairs. Did trouble shooting to determine the defects and made necessary corrections. On occasions made minor repairs on the electrical systems of the planes. Was responsible for keeping the planes clean and in good operating condition. Requisitioned tools and parts. RELATED CIVILIAN OCCUPATIONS--Airplane Mechanic, Airplane Inspector, Ingine Tester, Instrument Man IV.

ALEPLANE MECHANIC-GUINER-- Was crew member of a B-17 heavy bomber while serving with an 8th Air Force bomber group in England. Flew 21 missions over Germany. Kept check on instruments, fuel gauges, oil pressure, etc., while in flight. Transferred fuel from one tank to another to maintain balance of plane. Maintained flight log of the plane's performance and reported defects to ground crew. Fired top turret guns against enemy fighter planes under combat conditions. Has one enemy plane to his credit. While returning from missions he made temporary repairs on control cables damaged by flak.
