Aid to Families with Dependent Children

Apprenticeship Information Center

Bureau of Apprenticeship Training of the Department of primary function is to promote apprenticeship programs in the private sector and to render technical assistance.

BES - Bureau of Employment Security, encompassed ES and UI acitvities, March 1969, activities separated, ES merged with the Bureau of Work Training to form USTES.

BLS

Bureau of Labor Statistics of the Department of Labor CAA - Community Action Agency, under Title II of EOA, Administered by OEO, may be a state, political subdivision of a state or a public or private non profit agency. Administers CAPS and is the preferred prime sponsor of CEPS.

CAMPS - Cooperative Area Manpower Planning System; - national, regional, state, and local system of cooperating governmental agencies. Designed to encourage coordinated planning and allocation of resources in relation to availability and needs of the

area.

CAP- Community Action Program, financed and administered through OEO. Designed to provide an organized range of training and supportive services to an area, to aid low income individuals to become self-sufficient. Administered locally by CAA's.

CEP Concentrated Employment Program. Broad range of supportive services and job training program for disadvantaged persons living in target areas. Administered nationally by DOL, though local prime sponsor is usually the CAA's.

CMA

Comprehensive Manpower Act, a bill to consolidate existing manpower programs passed in 1970 and vetoed by the President.

COMO Conceptual Model - an organizational reform model for the ES, dividing local offices into three functional units to more effectively serve the divergent needs of the clientele.
