About the author (2005)

PHIL MCMANUS is a Senior Lecturer in the School of Geosciences at the University of Sydney and is a National Councillor of the Australian Conservation Foundation. He has qualifications in Urban and Regional Planning, Environmental Studies and Geography, and has studied in Australia, Canada and England. Within Australia, McManus has lived in rural Western Australia, Perth, Newcastle and Sydney.
