CONTENTS Comparison print showing changes in existing law proposed in S. 1125, Page V 90TH CONGRESS 1ST SESSION S. 1125 IN THE SENATE OF THE UNITED STATES FEBRUARY 28, 1967 Mr. Morse introduced the following bill; which was read twice and referred to the Committee on Labor and Public Welfare A BILL To strengthen and improve programs of assistance for elementary and secondary education by extending authority for allocation of funds to be used for education of Indian children and children in overseas dependents schools of the Department of Defense, by extending and amending the National Teacher Corps program, by providing assistance for comprehensive educational planning, and by improving programs of education for the handicapped; to improve programs of vocational education; to improve authority for assistance to schools in federally impacted areas and areas suffering a major disaster; and for other purposes. 1 Be it enacted by the Senate and House of Representa2 tives of the United States of America in Congress assembled, 3 That this Act may be cited as the "Elementary and Second4 ary Education Amendments of 1967". 4 PART A-AMENDMENTS TO TITLE I OF ELEMENTARY AND 8 Extending for One Year Provisions Relating to Schools for 9 10 Indian Children SEC. 101. The third sentence of section 203 (a) (1) (A) 11 of the Act of September 30, 1950 (Public Law 874, Eighty12 first Congress), is amended by striking out “June 30, 1967,” 13 and inserting in lieu thereof "June 30, 1968,". 14 Raising the Dollar Limitation for State Administrative Expenses Under Title II of Public Law 874 15 16 SEC. 102. Effective for fiscal years beginning after 17 June 30, 1967, section 207 (b) (2) of the Act of Septem18 ber 30, 1950 (Public Law 874, Eighty-first Congress), is 19 amended by striking out "$75,000" and inserting in lieu 20 thereof "$150,000". 4 SEC. 103. (a) The first sentence of section 203 (a) (2) 5 of the Act of September 30, 1950 (Public Law 874, Eighty6 first Congress), is amended by inserting "(other than such 7 institutions operated by the United States)" immediately 8 after "living in institutions for neglected or delinquent chil9 dren", and by striking out "paragraph (5)" and inserting 10 in lieu thereof "paragraph (7)". 13 11 (b) Section 205 (c) (1) (C) of such Act is amended 12 by striking out "(8)" and inserting in lieu thereof " (10)”. (c) Section 206 (a) (3) and section 207 (b) of such 14 Act are each amended by striking out "section 205 (a) (5)” 15 and inserting in lieu thereof "section 205 (a) (6)”. 16 Redesignating Section Numbers in Title II of Public Law 17 18 874 SEC. 104. For the purpose of avoiding confusion between 19 references to section numbers of title II of the Elementary 20 and Secondary Education Act of 1965 and references to |
