LOCATION OF THE ELEMENTARY SCHOOLS

On Diagram 3 will be found the location of the elementary schools in Grandview. The scores of these schools are also presented, the itemized score being given on each item of the Strayer-Engelhardt Score Card.

The proposed program for the junior high school is shown in Diagram 4. The junior high school buildings 1, 2, and 3 are already in existence; 4 is being proposed. The senior high school is located adjoining junior high school building 3.

Assignment

1. Has Grandview made any serious mistakes in the location of its school buildings? If so, what is your conception of the ideal for this city?

2. Can you defend your proposed program on the ground that it is economically sound as regards:

(a) Size of unit?

(b) Administrative staff necessitated?

(c) Type and character of building proposed?
(d) Location of sites?

3. What additions, alterations or changes would you recommend for the present buildings? In what respect is Grandview comparatively strong as indicated by the StrayerEngelhardt Score Card? What are your criticisms of present sites?

4. Having definitely decided upon the proper location of new schools for Grandview, assume that the people in these neighborhoods are opposed and organize to defeat your program, what further facts, if any, would you want to prove conclusively your case?

5. What avenues for publicity would you make use of in putting your program across to the public?

6. What are some of the precautions to be observed in using the telephone changes in Grandview as an index of growth? In using births?

7. How is the elementary situation linked up with the junior high school problem in Grandview? What fact regarding the junior high enrollment is very significant? Does this apply in any way to the high school?

8. Summarize the technique which you would use in studying the building problem of your own city.
