DOS X PROJECT

FOREWORD

"Federal Labor Laws" was first published in pamphlet form as a committee print during the 87th Congress. It was revised and updated in 1963.

Since that time, a substantial body of labor legislation has been enacted by the Congress, and numerous amendments and adjustments have been made to existing labor law.

These changes clearly make it desirable that another revision be published to serve the needs of legislators in particular and students of labor affairs in general.

The summaries included in this pamphlet are written in layman's language for the nontechnical user. They are not, obviously, intended as official interpretation of the Federal labor laws. For details information as to the content or application of the substantive legislation, the reader is advised to study the statutes themselves and to note court decisions bearing thereon.

As in the case of its predecessors, this pamphlet has been prepared with the assistance of the Library of Congress. The task of detailing the changes for this 1967 edition has been accomplished by Mrs. Elizabeth Yadlosky, legislative attorney in the Library's American Law Division.

CARL D. PERKINS,

Chairman, Committee on Education and Labor.
