absorptive capacity, increases energy and ambition and restores the blood to its normal condition. It is, thus, a general tonic and reconstituent of marked and

THE CARELESS USE OF CATHARTICS.

The evil effects resulting from the indiscriminate use of cathartics and drastic purgatives is only too well known to every practitioner. Drastic cathartics, while producing the effect which the patient thinks is desirable, leave the secretory functions of the liver in an enfeebled and exhausted condition, so that a return to the constipated state is certain. In such canditions the physicians will find Chionia a most valuable assistant, combining it with an occasional cathartic when indicated and gradually diminishing the dose of the cathartic employed. The administration of Chionia should be continued some time after the cathartic or purgative has been discontinued.-Am. Journal of Dermatology and G. U. Disease.

EXPERIMENTAL URANIUM NITRATE NEPHRITIS.

Dickson found that by means of uranium nitrate it is possible to produce a chronic diffuse nephritis in rabbits and dogs as well as in guineapigs. The histological picture of the lesions is characteristic, and is analogous to that found in chronic diffuse nephritis in man. Even in the most severe cases there are no demonstrable arterial lesions, although the mode of development suggests that there must be some functional vascular damage. After prolonged administration to guineapigs a terminal attack of acute nephritis is frequently accompanied by more or less marked anasarca. With the more severe lesions there occurs often hypertrophy of the left ventricle of the heart.

Prospective Medical Students!

The choosing of an Alma Mater is the most important step in obtaining a medical education. A careful investigation of the dif ferent schools should be made.

The Cleveland-Pulte Medical College

offers unequalled facilities for studying medicine. Best equipment, best courses of training, best instructors. Best opportunities for obtaining actual, practical work while in College. The Hospital service at the Cleveland City Hospital and the Huron Road Hospital afford excellent opportunities for the systematic study of cases. The Good Samaritan Dispensary, in connection with the College brings an almost unlimited amount and variety of actual, practical work which is done by the students under the supervision of the various Professors.

We could give locations to one hundred graduates each year if we had them. We receive many urgent requests for our graduates, from all parts of the country. The prospects for the well equipped Homeopathic graduate were never brighter than at present.
