RURAL TELEPHONE BANK APPROVES THREE LOANS

WASHINGTON, Nov. 24.-The Rural Telephone Bank has approved loans to three rural telephone systems totaling $4,047,750, the U.S. Department of Agriculture announced today.

The Rural Telephone Bank is an agency of the Federal Government and operates in conjunction with the Rural Electrification Administration to provide supplemental financing for the REA telephone loan program.

The loans will finance 155 miles of new line, headquarters facilities, a dial central office building, and various system improvements. The new construction and system improvements will result in service for 3,258 additional subscribers and upgraded service for other people on the lines.

Telephone systems receiving the loans are located in Louisiana, North Carolina, and Oregon.

NOVEMBER 22, 1972

Louisiana. Cameron Telephone Company, Sulphur, Louisiana, $835,800 Rural Telephone Bank loan to replace outmoded microwave toll facilities with a new microwave system; and to make various system improvements. Included are funds to construct additions to the dial central office buildings in the Hackberry, Johnson-Bayou, Creole and Grand Chenier exchanges.

On completion of facilities provided for under this loan, and prior REA loans, the borrower will be serving 3,747 subscribers over 677 miles of line in portions of two parishes in Louisiana and two counties in Texas. All funds in this loan are for use in Louisiana. The system's seven exchanges now provide dial service to approximately 2,921 subscribers. William L. Henning is president and manager. North Carolina. Mebane Home Telephone Company, Inc., Mebane, North Carolina, $2,383,500 Rural Telephone Bank loan to finance facilities to serve 1,886 additional subscribers, and to make various system improvements. Included are funds to construct a new dial central office building in the Mebane exchange, to expand existing toll facilities, and to construct 110 miles of new lines.

Upon completion of facilities under this loan, and prior REA loans, the borrower will be serving 5,100 subscribers over 399 miles of line in two counties. The system's Mebane exchange now provides dial service to approximately 3,214 subscribers. W. R. Hupman is president and manager. (North Carolina 508G-5 Mebane)

Oregon. Clear Creek Mutual Telephone Company, Oregon City, Oregon, $828,450 Rural Telephone Bank loan to finance facilities to serve 1,372 additional subscribers, and various system improvements. Provision also is made for the construction of 45 miles of new line.

On completion of facilities provided for under this loan, and prior REA loans, the borrower will be serving 2,698 subscribers over 206 miles of line in one county. The system's Redland exchange now provides dial service to approximately 1,326 subscribers. Clarence A. Chapman is president and Joe M. Larson is manager. (Oregon 509F-5 Clear Creek)

SIX REA ELECTRIFICATION LOANS TO BENEFIT 2,586 ADDITIONAL CONSUMERS WASHINGTON, Nov. 24.—The Rural Electrification Administration has approved loans that will enable six borrowers to provide electric service to 2,586 additional consumers, the U.S. Department of Agriculture announced today.

Loans totaling $2,549,000 will be used to finance 207 miles of distribution line, two miles of transmission line, one substation and improvements to existing facilities. The new construction and system improvements will enable the borrowers to connect the consumers and to meet the expanding electric power needs of people already being served.

Borrowers receiving the loans are located in Georgia, Iowa, Kansas, Ohio and South Carolina.

Five loans involve supplementary financing from the National Rural Utilities Cooperative Finance Corporation.

NOVEMBER 22, 1972

Georgia. Colquitt County Rural Electric Company, Moultrie, Georgia, $804,000 loan. This REA loan is made concurrently with a loan from the National Rural Utilities Cooperative Finance Corporation. REA will finance 70 percent of the proposed project, supplemented by 30 percent from CFC.

The funds will finance facilities to serve 1,543 consumers. Construction proposed includes 100 miles of distribution line and system improvements.

On completion of the facilities provided for in this and prior REA loans, the borrower will be serving 23,656 consumers over 4,254 miles of line in 11 counties. Eugene Adams is president and H. S. Glenn is manager. (Georgia 22AB-2 Colquitt.)

Iowa. Greene County Rural Electric Cooperative, Jefferson, Iowa, $145,000 loan. This REA loan is made concurrently with a loan from the National Rural Utilities Cooperative Finance Corporation. REA will finance 80 percent of the proposed project, supplemented by 20 percent from CFC.

The funds will finance facilities to serve 63 consumers. Construction proposed includes four miles of distribution line and system improvements.

On completion of the facilities provided for in this and prior REA loans, the borrower will be serving 5,284 consumers over 1,501 miles of line in nine counties. C. Raymond Fisher is president and Harold F. Mears is manager. (Iowa 43AD-2 Greene.)

Kansas. Cooperative Electric Power & Light Company, Inc., Iola, Kansas, $201,000 loan to finance facilities to serve 55 consumers. Construction proposed includes 13 miles of distribution line and system improvements.

On completion of the facilities provided for in this and prior REA loans, the borrower will be serving 2,628 consumers over 1,011 miles of line in seven counties. Elmer F. Nichols is president and Wesley R. Clendenen is manager. (Kansas 8X-1 Allen.)

Kansas. Kaw Valley Electric Cooperative Company, Inc., Topeka, Kansas, $418,000 loan. This REA loan is made concurrently with a loan from the National Rural Utilities Cooperative Finance Corporation. REA will finance 80 percent of the proposed project, supplemented by 20 percent from CFC.

The funds will finance facilities to serve 150 consumers. Construction proposed includes 16 miles of distribution line and system improvements.

On completion of the facilities provided for in this and prior REA loans, the borrower will be serving 4,078 consumers over 1,182 miles of line in six countise. Darryl Little is president and Fred R. Stone is manager. (Kansas 21L-2 Shawnee.)

Ohio. Hancock-Wood Electric Cooperative, Inc., North Baltimore, Ohio, $453,000 loan. This REA loan is made concurrently with a loan from the National Rural Utilities Cooperative Finance Corporation. REA will finance 80 percent of the proposed project, supplemented by 20 percent from CFC.

The funds will finance facilities to serve 250 consumers. Construction proposed includes 13 miles of distribution line, two miles of transmission line, one substation and system improvements.

On completion of the facilities provided for in this and prior REA loans, the borrower will be serving 6,798 consumers over 1,494 miles of line in 10 counties. Claire E. Montgomery is president and Paul H. Hutchinson is manager. (Ohio 87S-2 Wood)

South Carolina. Fairfield Electric Cooperative, Inc., Winnsboro, South Carolina, $528,000 loan. This REA loan is made concurrently with a loan from the National Rural Utilities Cooperative Finance Corporation. REA will finance 70 percent of the proposed project, supplemented by 30 percent from CFC.

The funds will finance facilities to serve 525 consumers. Construction proposed includes 61 miles of distribution line and system improvements.

On completion of the facilities provided for in this and prior REA loans, the borrower will be serving 8,344 consumers over 1,771 miles of line in five counties. Raymond McDaniel is president and B. English Lyles is manager. (South Carolina 22AB-2 Fairfield)

REA ELECTRIFICATION LOANS TO BENEFIT 10,374 ADDITIONAL CONSUMERS WASHINGTON, Dec. 1.-The Rural Electrification Administration has approved loans that will enable 18 borrowers to provide electric service to 10,374 additional consumers, the U.S. Department of Agriculture announced today.

Loans totaling $13,682,000 will be used to finance 770 miles of distribution line, 56 miles of transmission line, 12 substations and various system improvements. The new construction and system improvements will enable the borrowers to connect the consumers and to meet the expanding electric power needs of people already being served.

Borrowers receiving the loans are located in Alabama, Alaska, Arizona, Arkansas, Georgia, Idaho, Kentucky, Minnesota, Missouri, Nebraska, North Carolina, North Dakota and Wisconsin.

Fourteen loans involve supplemental financing from other lenders.

NOVEMBER 27, 1972

Alabama. Dixie Electric Cooperative, Union Springs, Alabama, $893,000 loan. This REA loan is being made concurrently with a $382,000 loan from the New Orleans Bank for Cooperatives (BC), New Orleans, Louisiana. The New Orleans Bank for Cooperatives is one of 13 such banks supervised by the Farm Credit Administration, Washington, D.C.

REA will finance 70 percent of a proposed construction project which inIcludes 36 miles of distribution line, six miles of transmission line, two substations, improvements to existing facilities, and electric service for an additional 940 consumers. The BC loan will finance 30 percent of the project.

On completion of facilities provided for in these loans, and prior REA loans, the borrower will be serving 8,277 consumers over 1,532 miles of line in six counties. B. B. Spratling is president and James A. Vann, Jr., is manager. (Alabama 25M-3 Bullock)

Alabama. Pea River Electric Cooperative, Ozark, Alabama, $357,000 loan. This REA loan is made concurrently with a loan from the National Rural Utilities Cooperative Finance Corporation. REA will finance 70 percent of the proposed project, supplemented by 30 percent from CFC.

The funds will finance facilities to serve 1,300 consumers. Construction proposed includes 69 miles of distribution line and system improvements.

On completion of the facilities provided for in this and prior REA loans, the borrower will be serving 14,957 consumers over 2,258 miles of line in three counties. M. R. Barnes is president and T. E. Land is manager. (Alabama 26X-2 Barbour)

Alaska. Golden Valley Electric Association, Inc., Fairbanks, Alaska, $1,831,000 loan. This REA loan is made concurrently with a loan from the National Rural Utilities Cooperative Finance Corporation. REA will finance 90 percent of the proposed project, supplemented by 10 percent from CFC.

The funds will finance facilities to serve 600 consumers. Construction proposed includes 87 miles of distribution line, one substation, transmission facilities and system improvements.

On completion of the facilities provided for in this and prior REA loans, the borrower will be serving 8,642 consumers over 1,420 miles of line in and around the vicinity of Fairbanks. Foye L. Gentry is president and R. L. Hufman is manager. (Alaska 6Z-2 Golden Valley)

Missouri. Ralls County Cooperative, New London, Missouri, $302,000 loan. This REA loan is made concurrently with a loan from the National Rural Utilities Cooperative Finance Corporation. REA will finance 80 percent of the proposed project, supplemented by 20 percent from CFC.

The funds will finance facilities to serve 118 consumers. Construction proposed includes 12 miles of distribution line and system improvements.

On completion of the facilities provided for in this and prior REA loans, the borrower will be serving 3,647 consumers over 1,165 miles of line in five counties. Austin B. Chenoweth is president and Robert O. Alexander is manager. (Missouri 26X-2 Ralls)

North Carolina. Piedmont Electric Membership Corporation, Hillsborough, North Carolina, $1,444,000 loan. This REA loan is made concurrently with a loan from the National Rural Utilities Cooperative Finance Corporation. REA will finance 70 percent of the proposed project, supplemented by 30 percent from CFC.

The funds will finance facilities to serve 900 consumers. Construction proposed includes 53 miles of distribution line, 32 miles of transmission line, four substations and system improvements.

On completion of the facilities provided for in this and prior REA loans, the borrower will be serving 11,974 consumers over 1,831 miles of line in six coun

Alaska. Matanuska Electric Association, Inc., Palmer, Alaska, $1,667,000 loan. This REA loan is made concurrently with a loan from the National Rural Utilities Finance Corporation. REA will finance 70 percent of the proposed project, supplemented by 30 percent from CFC.

The funds will finance facilities to serve 383 consumers. Construction proposed includes 113 miles of distribution line, eight miles of transmission line, four new substations and system improvements.

On completion of the facilities provided for in this and prior REA loans, the borrower will be serving 5,591 consumers over 1,157 miles of line in and around Palmer. Dale D. Briggs is president and Willard H. Johnson is manager. (Alaska 2AA-2 Matanuska)

Arizona. Sulphur Springs Valley Electric Cooperative, Inc., Willcox, Arizona, $1,923,000 loan to finance facilities to serve 577 consumers. Construction proposed includes 47 miles of distribution line, approximately 10 miles of transmission line, one new substation and system improvements.

On completion of the facilities provided for in this and prior REA loans, the borrower will be serving 14,500 consumers over 2,485 miles of line in four counties. J. A. Kartchner is president and Howard D. Bethel is manager. (Arizona 14A1-1 Cochise)

Arkansas. C & L Electric Cooperative Corporation, Star City, Arkansas, $909,000 loan to finance facilities to serve 588 consumers. Construction proposed includes 30 miles ow distribution line and system improvements.

On completion of the facilities provided for in this and prior REA loans, the borrower will be serving 13,032 consumers over 3,067 miles of line in eight counties. Joe Thompson is president and Lynn Thomasson is manager. (Arkansas 21AW-1 Lincoln)

Georgia. Cobb County Rural Electric Membership Corporation, Marietta, Georgia, $907,000 loan. This REA loan is made concurrently with a loan from the National Rural Utilities Cooperative Finance Corporation. REA will finance 70 percent of the proposed project, supplemented by 30 percent from CFC.

The funds will finance facilities to serve 2,060 consumers. Construction proposed includes 90 miles of distribution line and system improvements.

Idaho. Clearwater Power Company, Lewiston, Idaho, $252,000 loan. This REA loan is made concurrently with a loan from the National Rural Utilities Cooperative Finance Corporation. REA will finance 90 percent of the proposed project, supplemented by 10 percent from CFC.

The funds will finance facilities to serve 250 consumers. Construction proposed includes 17 miles of distribution line and system improvements.

On completion of the facilities provided for in this and prior REA loans, the borrower will be serving 5,848 consumers over 2,337 miles of line in seven counties in Idaho, three counties in Washington, and one county in Oregon. Minnesota. North Itasca Electric Co-op, Bigfork, Minnesota, $300,000 loan to finance facilities to serve 90 additional consumers. Construction proposed includes 14 miles of distribution line and system improvements.

Missouri. Crawford Electric Cooperative, Inc., Bourbon, Missouri, $654,000 loan. This REA loan is made concurrently with a loan from the National Rural Utilities Cooperative Finance Corporation. REA will finance 80 percent of the proposed project, supplemented by 20 percent from CFC.

The funds will finance facilities to serve 385 consumers. Construction proposed includes 28 miles of distribution line and system improvements.

The funds will finance facilities to serve 103 consumers. Construction proposed includes 17 miles of distribution line and system improvements.

Georgia. Amicalola Electric Membership Corporation, Jasper, Georgia, $457,000 loan. This REA loan is made concurrently with a loan from the National Rural Utilities Cooperative Finance Corporation. REA will finance 70 percent of the proposed project, supplemented by 30 percent from CFC.

The funds will finance facilities to serve 575 consumers. Construction proposed includes 56 miles of distribution line and system improvements.

The funds will finance facilities to serve 580 consumers. Construction proposed includes 41 miles of distribution line and system improvements.

Kentucky. Blue Grass Rural Electric Cooperative Corporation, Nicholasville, Kentucky, $237,000 loan. The funds will finance facilities to serve 450 consumers. Construction proposed includes 23 miles of distribution line and system improvements.
