RURAL ELECTRIFICATION ADMINISTRATION APPROVES SEVEN LOANS

WASHINGTON. Oct. 6.-The Rural Electrification Administration has approved loans that will enable seven borrowers to provide electric service to 3,066 additional consumers, the U.S. Department of Agriculture announced today.

Loans totaling $4,257,000 will be used to finance 227 miles of distribution line, 50 miles of transmission line, three substations and various system improvements. The new construction and system improvements will enable the borrowers to connect the consumers and to meet the expanding electric power needs of people already being served.

Borrowers receiving the loans are located in Colorado, Illinois, Indiana, Minnesota and Tennessee.

Five loans involve supplementary financing from the National Rural Utilities Cooperative Finance Corporation.

OCTOBER 2, 1972

Minnesota. Wright-Hennepin Cooperative Electric Association, Maple Lake, Minnesota, $364,000 loan. This REA loan is made concurrently with a loan from the National Rural Utilities Cooperative Finance Corporation. REA will finance 70 percent of the proposed project, supplemented by 30 percent from CFC.

The funds will finance facilities to serve 1,000 consumers. Construction proposed includes 50 miles of distribution line and system improvements.

On completion of the facilities provided for in this and prior REA loans, the borrower will be serving 12,896 consumers over 2,002 miles of line in five counties. Everett Thies is president and Edward R. Slebiska is manager. (Minnesota 62AB-2 Wright)

Colorado. Southeast Colorado Power Association, La Junta, Colorado, $1,902,000 loan. Funds will finance facilities to serve 211 consumers. Construction proposed includes 62 miles of distribution line, 50 miles of transmission line, two substations and system improvements.

Illinois. Coles-Moultrie Electric Cooperative, Mattoon, Illinois, $316,000 loan. This REA loan is made concurrently with a loan from the National Rural Utilities Cooperative Finance Corporation. REA will finance 80 percent of the proposed project, supplemented by 20 percent from CFC.

The funds will finance facilities to serve 492 consumers. Construction proposed includes 24 miles of distribution line, and system improvements.

On completion of the facilties provided for in this and prior REA loans, the borrower will be serving 6,052 consumers over 1,534 miles of line in eight counties. William D. Champion is president and Carl E. Ferguson is manager. (Illinois 8U-2 Coles)

Illinois. Southern Illinois Electric Cooperative, Dongola, Illinois, $427,000 loan. This REA loan is made concurrently with a loan from the National Rural Utilities Cooperative Finance Corporation. REA will finance 70 percent of the proposed project, supplemented by 30 percent from CFC.

The funds will finance facilities to serve 288 consumers. Construction proposed includes 15 miles of distribution line and system improvements.

Indiana. Warren County Rural Electric Membership Corporation, Williamsport, Indiana, $282,000 loan. This REA loan is made concurrently with a loan

from the National Rural Utilities Cooperative Finance Corporation. REA will finance 70 percent of the proposed project, supplemented by 30 percent from CFC.

The funds will finance facilities to serve 125 consumers. Construction proposed includes eight miles of distribution line, one substation and system improvements.

Minnesota. North Pine Electric Cooperative, Inc., Finlayson, Minnesota, $331,000 loan. This REA loan is made concurrently with a loan from the National Rural Utilities Cooperative Finance Corporation. REA will finance 80 percent of the proposed project, supplemented by 20 percent from CFC.

The funds will finance facilities to serve 250 consumers. Construction proposed includes 27 miles of distribution line, and system improvements.

Tennessee. Town of Dickson, Dickson Electric Department, Dickson, Tennessee, $635,000 loan. The funds will finance facilities to serve 700 consumers. Construction proposed includes 41 miles of distribution line, and system improvements. On completion of the facilities provided for in this and prior REA loans,the borrower will be serving 12,779 consumers over 1,431 miles of line in five counties. Carney B. Nicks is Chairman and C. N. REA AND TELEPHONE BANK APPROVE THREE LOANS

WASHINGTON, Oct. 6.-The Rural Electrification Administration and the Rural Telephone Bank have approved loans to three rural telephone systems totaling $3,619,190, the U.S. Department of Agriculture announced today. Included are two bank loans for $1,715,490, and one loan made concurrently by REA and RTB for $1,903,700.

The Rural Telephone Bank is an agency of the Federal Government and operates in conjunction with the Rural Electrification Administration to provide supplemental financing for the REA telephone loan program.

The loans will finance 54 miles of new line, additions to two dial central office buildings, various system improvements, and facilities to serve an Anti-Ballistic Missile complex in North Dakota. The new construction and system improvements will result in service for 628 additional subscribers, improved service for 1,802 existing subscribers, and upgraded service for other people on the lines. Telephone systems receiving the loans are located in Florida, New York, and North Dakota.

OCTOBER 4, 1972

Florida. Northeast Florida Telephone Company, Macclenny, Florida, $735,000 Rural Telephone Bank loan to upgrade existing service to one, two and four-party lines in the Sanderson exchange; and to finance facilities to connect 260 subscribers. Included are funds to construct additions to the dial central office buildings in the Sanderson and Macclenny exchanges; to install new toll facilities, and direct-distance dialing facilities in the two exchanges, and to construct 34 miles of new line.

On completion of facilities provided for under this loan, and prior REA loans, the borrower will be serving 1,934 subscribers over 307 miles of line in Baker County. The system's two exchanges now provide dial service to approximately 1,674 subscribers. Mrs. Gladys R. Walker is president and manager. (Florida 511C-5 Northeast)

New York. Chazy and Westport Telephone Corporation, Westport, New York, $1,883,700 Rural Telephone Bank loan and $20,000 REA loan. This new borrower of REA-RTB loans, a commercial corporation, will use the funds to connect 368

additional subscribers and to improve service for 1,802 existing subscribers in and around the towns of Westport and Elizabethtown.

The borrower proposes to provide one and four-party dial service throughout the system, and to make various system improvements. Included are funds for the installation of automatic toll facilities, and for direct-distance dialing facilities throughout the system. Provision also is made for the construction of an addition to the dial central office building in the Westport exchange, and for 20 miles of new line.

Upon completion of facilities under these loans, the borrower will be serving 2,170 subscribers over 341 miles of line in Essex and Clinton counties. The system consists of three exchanges. Mr. Gerald R. Forcier is president and manager. (New York 530A-2 and A-6 Chazy)

North Dakota. United Telephone Mutual Aid Corporation, Langdon, North Dakota, $980,490 Rural Telephone Bank loan to finance communication facilities to serve the Anti-Ballistic Missile complex within the borrower's service area. Upon completion of construction proposed under all loans, the borrower will be serving 4,278 subscribers over 1,735 miles of line in three counties. Reinhold Goschke is president and Frank J. RURAL ELECTRIFICATION ADMINISTRATION APPROVES THREE TELEPHONE LOANS

WASHINGTON, Oct. 13.-The Rural Electrification Administration has approved loans to three rural telephone systems amounting to $2,631,000, the U.S. Department of Agriculture announced today.

The loans will finance 100 miles of new line and other facilities, and various system improvements. The new construction and system improvements will result in service for 245 additional subscribers, improved service for 74 existing subscribers, and upgraded service for other people on the lines.

Borrowers receiving the loans are located in Colorado, South Dakota and Wisconsin.

OCTOBER 11, 1972

Colorado. Haxtun Telephone Company, Haxtun, Colorado (mailing address: Wisner, Nebraska), $1,020,000 REA loan to upgrade existing service throughout the system to one, two and four-party lines. The funds also will finance various system improvements; and facilities to connect 34 additional subscribers. Included are funds to construct an addition to the dial central office building in the Haxtun exchange, to install new toll facilities, and to add one mile of new line. REA loans to the Haxtun Telephone Company will make possible new or improved service for 1,275 subscribers over 560 miles of line in four counties. The system's three exchanges now provide dial service to approximately 1,211 subscribers. J. M. McGinnis is president and manager. (Colorado 509D-1 Haxtun) South Dakota. Dakota Cooperative Telephone Company, Inc., Irene, South Dakota, $311,000 REA loan to finance facilities to serve 10 additional subscribers and to improve service for 74 existing subscribers in the Gayville area. The borrower proposes to serve the Gayville area which is contiguous to the system's Wavo exchange in Clay and Yankton counties. Included are funds for various system improvements, and for the construction of 58 miles of new line.

REA loans to the Dakota Cooperative Telephone Company will make possible new or improved service for 4,946 subscribers over 1,738 miles of line in eight counties. Wisconsin. Chibardun Telephone Cooperative, Inc., Dallas, Wisconsin, $1,300,000 REA loan to upgrade existing service in the Dallas, Prairie Farm and Ridgeland exchanges to all one-party lines. The funds also will finance facilities to connect 201 additional subscribers, and to make various system improvements. Provision also is made for the construction of an addition to the dial central office building in the Cameron exchange; and for the construction of 41 miles of new line.

REA loans to the Chibardun Telephone Cooperative will make possible new or improved service for 3,260 subscribers over 865 miles of line in three counties. The system's seven exchanges now provide dial service to approximately 3,059 subscribers. (Wisconsin 574G-1 Chibardun)

RURAL ELECTRIFICATION ADMINISTRATION APPROVES FIVE LOANS

Loans totaling $3,175,000 will be used to finance 279 miles of distribution line, 12 miles of transmission line, three substations and various system improvements. The new construction improvements will enable the borrowers to connect the consumers and to meet the expanding electric power needs of people already being served.

Borrowers receiving the loans are located in Nebraska, Texas and Washington. Each loan involves supplementary financing from the National Rural Utilities Cooperative Finance Corporation.

Nebraska. Elkhorn Rural Public Power District, Battle Creek, Nebraska, $416,000 loan. This REA loan is made concurrently with a loan from the National Rural Utilities Cooperative Finance Corporation. REA will finance 90 percent of the proposed project, supplemented by 10 percent from CFC.

The funds will finance facilities to serve 107 consumers. Construction proposed includes 20 miles of distribution line, one substation and system improvements. On completion of the facilities provided for in this and prior REA loans, the borrower will be serving 4,610 consumers over 2,082 miles of line in eight counties. Nebraska. Seward County Rural Public Power District, Seward, Nebraska, $274,000 loan. This REA loan is made concurrently with a loan from the National Rural Utilities Cooperative Finance Corporation. REA will finance 90 percent of the proposed project, supplemented by 10 percent from CFC.

The funds will finance facilities to serve 45 consumers. Construction proposed includes seven miles of distribution line, 12 miles of transmission line, one substation and system improvements.

Texas. Bartlett Electric Cooperative, Inc., Bartlett, Texas, $241,000 loan. This REA loan is made concurrently with a loan from the National Rural Utilities Cooperative Finance Corporation. REA will finance 90 percent of the proposed project, supplemented by 10 percent from CFC.

The funds will finance facilities to serve 325 consumers. Construction proposed includes 38 miles of distribution line and system improvements.

Texas. Pedernales Electric Cooperative, Inc., Austin, Texas, $2,081,000 loan. This REA loan is made concurrently with a loan from the National Rural Utilities Cooperative Finance Corporation. REA will finance 90 percent of the proposed project, supplemented by 10 percent from CFC.

The funds will finance facilities to serve 1,633 consumers. Construction proposed includes 206 miles of distribution line, one substation and system improvements.

REA AND TELEPHONE BANK APPROVES FIVE LOANS

WASHINGTON, Oct. 20.-The Rural Electrification Administration and the Rural Telephone Bank have approved loans to five rural telephone systems totaling $11,263,150, the U.S. Department of Agriculture announced today. Included are REA loans for $2,881,000; bank loans for $8,382,150.

The Rural Telephone Bank is an agency of the Federal Government and operates in conjunction with the Rural Electrification Administration to provide supplemental financing for the REA telephone loan program.

The loans will finance 475 miles of new line, one dial central office building, and various system improvements. The new construction and system improvements will result in service for 6,081 additional subscribers, improved service for 2,906 existing subscribers, and upgraded service for other people on the lines. Telephone systems receiving the loans are located in Florida, Louisiana, Missouri, Nebraska and Virginia.

OCTOBER 17, 1972

Nebraska. K & M Telephone Company, Inc., Chambers, Nebraska, $375,000 REA loan to finance facilities to connect 183 additional subscribers in the Chambers exchange area; and to provide all one-party dial service for 154 of these subscribers. Also included are funds for the construction of a new dial central office building in the Chambers exchange, and for 154 miles of new line.

REA loans to the K & M Telephone Company will make possible new or improved service for 572 subscribers over 320 miles of line in three counties. The system's two exchanges now provide dial service to approximately 389 subscribers. Kenneth W. Werner is president and manager. (Nebraska 548D-1 K & M)

Missouri. Steelville Telephone Exchange, Inc., Steelville, Missouri, $2,486,000 REA loan to upgrade existing service throughout the system to all one-party lines. The funds also will finance facilities to serve 529 additional subscribers, and various system improvements. Also included are funds for the construction of additions to the dial central office buildings in the Cherryville, Steelville and Huzzah exchanges; and for the construction of 119 miles of new line.

REA loans to the Steelville Telephone Exchange will make possible new or improved service for 2,683 subscribers over 695 miles of line in four counties. The system's four exchanges now provide dial service to approximately 2,154 subscribers. W. H. Lea is president and Festus G. Kreamalmyer is manager. (Missouri 536F-1 Steelville)

Virginia. Roanoke and Botetourt Telephone Company, Daleville, Virginia, $20,000 REA loan and $4,005,750 Rural Telephone Bank loan. This new borrower of REA-RTB loans, a commercial corporation, will use the funds to connect 1,513 subscribers and to improve service for 2,096 subscribers in and around the towns of Troutville and Fincastle. The borrower proposes to provide all one-party dial service throughout the system; to construct an addition to the dial central office building in Daleville; and to build an addition to the dial central office building in the Fincastle exchange. Provision also is made for the construction of 69 miles of new line.

On completion of facilities under these loans, the borrower will be serving 4,419 subscribers over 499 miles of line in Botetourt County. The system consists of four exchanges. Ira D. Layman is president and manager. (Virginia 525A-2 and A-6 Daleville)

OCTOBER 18, 1972

Florida. Florida Central Telephone Company, Tallahassee, Florida, $1,176,000 Rural Telephone Bank loan to upgrade existing service in four of the system's exchanges to one, two and four-party lines. The borrower also proposes to upgrade service within the one to four-party arrangement in the rural areas of four additional exchanges whose base rate areas are served by the Southeastern Telephone Company.

Included in the loan are funds to connect 795 additional subscribers, and to make various system improvements. Provision also is made for the expansion of existing toll facilities, and for the construction of 36 miles of new line.

On completion of facilities provided for under this loan, and prior REA loans, the borrower will be serving 3,538 subscribers over 1,007 miles of line in six counties.
