16 VI. CONCLUSION The Commission is firmly committed to providing strong leadership and assistance to Federal agencies in assuring that adequate placement and advancement opportunities are provided for handicapped individuals in Federal employment. We will be actively involved with agency headquarters and their field components in helping them to carry out their affirmative action program plans during the next year. Also, appropriate actions will be taken to follow up, by personal contact and letters, with agencies which have not submitted plans or whose plans are pending or disapproved. Periodic reports will be presented by the Commission to the Interagency Committee on Handicapped Employees regarding the progress being made by agencies. Reports will be based upon evaluations made by our central and regional office program staff, contacts · with agencies and rehabilitation sources, and through regular personnel management evaluation procedures.
