The 2000 edition is sold on a subscription basis by the Superintendent of Documents, U.S. Government Printing Office, Washington, DC 20402. It consists of the basic manual and change as issued for one year. The order for the Catalog must be accompanied by a check or money order make payable to the Superintendent of Documents. Although the Catalog is published by the Office of Management and Budget and the General Services Administration, subscriptions for the Catalog are only available through the Government Printing Office (see Subscription Form in back of Catalog).

The Update to the 2000 Basic Catalog contains 1,454 assistance programs administered by 60 Federal agencies. As a potential applicant, always contact the agency information sources in the program descriptions for the latest information concerning assistance programs.

Funding has been provided for direct payments to eligible livestock producers that suffered disasters during the 1999 crop year (10.066). Direct payment provisions are available if crops could not be planted, produced, or the quantity and quality was adversely affected (10.073). Grants are available for multi-state projects for competitive research, education to address critical multi-functional, and emerging agriculture issues (10.302 and 10.303). Loans are being provided to governmental agencies to eradicate the Nation's boll weevil population (10.449).

Grants are available to assist Hispanic-Serving Institutions of higher education participate in addressing community development needs in their localities, including neighborhood revitalization, housing, and economic development (14.514).

Grants are available to establish or retain centers aimed at improving secondary school graduation rates and postsecondary school attendance (84.347). Funds are available to States for Title I, Accountability Grants, to strengthen, improve, or transfer students to higher performing public schools (84.348). Funds are available for agencies with TRIO projects that serve low-income and first-generation college students to expand their programs (84.344).

Grants are available to any municipality or interstate agency for assistance in the construction of municipal wastewater treatment facilities (66.418).

Grants are available to sponsor research studies, training, and fellowships in the problems of transportation in urban areas and to encourage students to seek careers in the transportation area including management (20.502 and 20.503). Funds are available to assist in the training costs of complying with the part of the "Transportation Equity Act for the 21st Century" dealing with over-the-road bus accessibility for the disabled (20.518). Funds are available to help individuals make improved career and educational decisions (84.346). Medicaid infrastructure grants are being offered and demonstration projects are being funded for States to support and provide benefits for people with disabilities to compete in the job market (93.768).

Grants are available to State health departments to stabilize poison control centers under the threat of closure (93.253). Funds are available to provide leadership in women's health services and activities (93.290). Grants to provide medical benefits to the categorically needy and individuals with physical or mental impairments are available through the "Ticket-To-Work Demonstration" program (93.769).
