WITNESS

NANCY DOMENICI, MEMBER OF THE BOARD OF DIRECTORS, NATIONAL ALLIANCE FOR THE MENTALLY ILL

Mr. NATCHER. Our first witness this morning is Ms. Domenici. Come around, Mrs. Domenici. You have appeared before our committee on several occasions and it is a pleasure to have you back. As I have said to you on more than one occasion-and I delight in being able to tell you again-your husband is one of the best Senators serving in the United States Senate. This afternoon, there is an exciting conference where 10 Senators and 5 Representatives will meet. You probably are aware of this meeting. It may settle a historic agreement where differences in two bills will help lead to favorable legislation that will return the National Institutes of Mental Health to the world renowned disease-oriented National Institutes of Health. At the same time, this program for service systems for people with severe mental illness in this legislation will be raised to a new high agency with its own single mission, and we look forward to working with this subcommittee on
