17 And fay to Archippus, Take heed to the miniftry, which thou haft received in the Lord, that thou mayest fulfil it. 18 The falutation of Paul, with mine own hand. Remember my bonds. ' Grace BE with you. Amen. (See Ephef. vi. 24. note 2.) 17 And fay to Archippus in my name, take heed to the minifiry which thou haft received in the church of Christ, that thou mayeft fulfil it properly. All the paitors of your church, ought to exert their utmost endeavours in oppofing the falfe teachers. 18 My falutation I Paul write with my own hand, to affure you that this epiftle is really mine. 2Theff. iii. 17. Remember my bonds. May gracious difpofitions, together with the favour of God and good men, remain with you all. Amen. 2. That thou mayeft fulfil it. Ίνα αυτην πληροίς.. Bengelius tran flates this, That thou mayeft fill it up; and from this expreffion he infers, that Archippus being old and infirm, was about to finish his courfe; and received this encouragement from the apostle, to ftrengthen him. Ver. 18. Remember my bonds. For the manner of the apostle's confinement at Rome, fee Ephef. vi. 20. note. His having fuffered now an almost four years imprisonment, for the gofpel, and in the courfe of that time, innumerable harfhips and dangers, it was fuch a demonftration of his firm perfuafion of its truth, as could not fail to confirm the Coloffians, and all the Gentiles, in the belief of it. This is the reason that, notwithstanding he had mentioned his bonds twice before, in this letter, he brings it in a third time here, at the conclusion Strahan and Prefton, Printers-Street, London. "It is not very creditable to the liberal curiofity of the English public, that there fhould have been no complete edition of the Works of Dr. Franklin till the year 1816. The public is very much indebted to the editor of the prefent collection. It is prefented in a cheap and unoftentatious form, and feems to have been compiled with fufficient diligence, and arranged with confiderable judgement.
