12. When the joint assembly adjourns, the Senators, accompanied by the President of the Senate and the Clerk of the Senate, shall return to the chamber. The Speaker of the House shall resume the chair, and the business of the House shall be proceeded with in the same order as when it was interrupted by the entrance of the Senators.

The SPEAKER laid the resolution before the House.

The resolution was agreed to.

Ordered, That Mr. HUBARD inform the Senate that the House had agreed to the joint resolution.

Mr. PARKS offered the following resolution:

Resolved (the Senate concurring), That the General Assembly shall proceed at 12:30 o'clock P. M. to the election of Secretary of the Commonwealth, Auditor of Public Accounts, Second Auditor, Treasurer, Superintendent of the Penitentiary, Railroad Commissioner and Superintendent of Public Printing; and that in the execution of the joint order for the election of State officers, nominations shall be made for the whole number in the order in which they appear in the resolution providing for their election, and that each house shall be notified of said nominations when the roll shall be called for the election of one of the officers in the order named in the concurrent resolution providing for their election; and when the roll shall have been called for the whole number, the presiding officer of each house shall appoint a committee of two, which, together, shall constitute a joint committee to count the joint vote in each case and report the result to their respective houses.

Which was agreed to.

Ordered, That Mr. PARKS carry the concurrent resolution to the Senate and request their concurrence.

A message was received from the Senate by Mr. LYLE, who informed the House that the Senate had agreed to the resolution.

The hour of 12:30 P. M. having arrived, a message was received from the Senate by Mr. HARVEY, who informed the House that the Senate was ready on its part to proceed with the execution of the joint resolution.

Ordered, That Mr. GALLEHER inform the Senate that the House is ready on its part.

Mr. PRIDDY nominated Joseph T. Lawless, of Portsmouth, for Secretary of the Commonwealth.

Mr. HUME nominated Morton Marye, of Alexan Iria, for Auditor of Public Accounts.

Mr. FLEET nominated Josiah Ryland, Jr., of King and Queen, for Second Auditor.

Mr. LEECH nominated A. W. Harman, Jr., of Rockbridge, for Treasurer.

Mr. DUPUY nominated George M. Helms, of Franklin, for Superintendent of the Penitentiary.

Mr. Boaz nominated J. C. Hill, of Albemarle, for Railroad Commissioner.

Mr. FOLKES nominated J. H. O'Bannon, of Richmond City, for Superintendent of Public Printing.
