In which bills they request the concurrence of the House.

Nos. 133, 132, 112 and 38, Senate bills, were read twice and referred to the Committee on Counties, Cities and Towns.

No. 28, Senate bill, was read twice and referred to the Committee on Finance.

The following House bills, reported from the Committee for Courts of Justice, were read a first time:

No. 95, House bill prohibiting the recordation of deeds and other writings conveying real estate upon which there are due delinquent taxes and levies, so returned in the name of the grantor or party making the conveyance.

No. 96, House bill to permit W. D. Gay to obtain license to practice law in Virginia courts (with recommendation that it do not pass).

Mr. PARKS offered the following resolution:

Resolved, That the following resolution: "Be it resolved by the House of Delegates of the General Assembly of Virginia, That all bills of a general nature presented by its members and referred to its various committees shall be printed and a copy furnished each member of this body," which has been previously agreed to by the House, be suspended.

Which was agreed to, two-thirds in the House so determining.

Mr. PETTIT offered the following resolution:

Resolved (the Senate concurring), That the General Assembly proceed this day, at 12:30, to the election of a county judge for the county of Fluvanna, a corporation judge for the city of Portsmouth, a corporation judge for the city of Staunton, a corporation judge for the city of Alexandria, a corporation judge for the city of Petersburg, a corporation judge for the city of Norfolk, a judge of the Law and Chancery court of the city of Norfolk, a judge of the Law and Equity court of the city of Richmond, a judge of the Chancery court of the city of Richmond, and a judge of the Corporation court of the city of Richmond, and that in the execution of this joint order nominations shall be made for the whole number in the order in which they appear above; and then each House shall be notified of said nominations; then the roll shall be called for the election of one of the officers in the order named, and when the roll shall have been called for the whole number, the presiding officer of each House shall appoint a committee of two, which, together, shall constitute a joint committee to count the joint vote in each case, and report the result to their respective Houses.

Which was agreed to.

Ordered, That Mr. PETTIT inform the Senate and request their

concurrence.

A message was received from the Senate by Mr. McILWAINE, who informed the House that the Senate had agreed to the resolution with an amendment, in the nature of a substitute, as follows:

"Resolved (the Senate concurring), That the General Assembly of Virginia do proceed this day, 12:30 o'clock P. M., to the election of a judge of the County court of Fluvanna, a judge of the Hustings court of the city of Richmond, a judge of the Iustings court of the city of Portsmouth, a judge of the Hustings court of the city of Staunton, a judge of the Corporation court of the city of Alexandria, a judge of the Hustings court of the city of Petersburg, a judge of the Hustings court of the city of Norfolk, a judge of the Law and Chancery court of the city of Norfolk, a judge of the Law and Equity court of the city of Richmond, a judge of the Chancery court of the city of Richmond, and a judge of the Corporation court of the city of Danville; and that in the execution of this joint order nominations shall be made for the whole number in the order in which they appear above; and then each House of the General Assembly shall be notified of said nominations; then the roll shall be called for the election of each one of the judges in the order named; and when the rolls shall have been called for the whole number, the presiding officer of each of said Houses shall appoint a committee of two, which, together, shall constitute a joint committee to count the joint vote in each case and report the result to their respective Houses."

The amendment, in the nature of a substitute, was agreed to. Ordered, That Mr. WHITEHEAD of Norfolk city, inform the Senate that the House had agreed to the amendment in the nature of a substitute.

A message was received from the Senate by Mr. TATE, who informed the House that the Senate was ready on its part to proceed with the execution of the joint resolution.
