Mr. VANDENBERG, from the Committee on Commerce, submitted the following

REPORT

[To accompany S. 3282]

The Committee on Commerce, to whom was referred the bill (S. 3282) to extend the times for commencing and completing the construction of a bridge across the Bay of San Francisco from the Rincon Hill district in San Francisco by way of Goat Island to Oakland, having considered the same, report favorably thereon and recommend that the bill do pass without amendment.

The bill has the approval of the Departments of War and Agriculture, as will appear by the annexed communications, which are made a part of this report.

DEAR SENATOR: Receipt is acknowledged of your letter of January 27, transmitting a copy of a bill (S. 3282) with request that the committee be furnished with such suggestions touching its merits and the propriety of its passage as the department might deem appropriate.

This bill would extend for two and seven years, respectively, from February 20, 1932, the times for commencing and completing the construction of a bridge across the Bay of San Francisco, at or near the general site from Rincon Hill, city and county of San Francisco, to and across Goat Island, in San Francisco Bay, thence to Oakland, county of Alameda, authorized by act approved February 20, 1931, to be built by the State of California.

R. 81) granting the consent of Congress to the Catawissa Railroad Co. to reconstruct, maintain, and operate a railroad bridge across the Susquehanna River at or near Catawissa, Pa., having considered the same, report favorably thereon and recommend that the bill do pass without amendment.

The bill has the approval of the Departments of War and Agriculture, as will appear by the annexed House of Representatives Report No. 46, which is made a part of this report.

The Committee on Interstate and Foreign Commerce, to whom was referred the bill (H. R. 81) granting the consent of Congress to the Catawissa Railroad Co. to reconstruct, maintain, and operate a railroad bridge across the Susquehanna River at or near Catawissa, Pa., having considered the same, report thereon with a recommendation that it pass.

The bill has the approval of the War and Agriculture Departments, as will appear by the letters attached.

DEAR MR. RAYBURN: Careful consideration has been given to the bill H. R. 81, transmitted with your letter of December 16, with request for a report thereon and such views relative thereto as the department might desire to communicate. This bill would authorize the Catawissa Railroad Co., it successors and assigns, to reconstruct, maintain, and operate a railroad bridge and approaches thereto across the Susquehanna River at or about 2,150 feet south of Rupert Station, Montour Township, Columbia County, State of Pennsylvania.
