B. STATE-FINANCED SCHOLARSHIP/LOAN PROGRAMS

ALASKA

[From State laws: The student in each high school in the State who graduates with the highest standing for all the credits earned, is entitled to receive during dormitory residence at the University of Alaska, a scholarship covering dormitory rent for 2 years following the year of graduation from high school. (Sec. 37-10-41 A.C.L.A. 1949.)

Natives, defined as persons having at least one-fourth Indian or Eskimo blood, who reside in the rural areas and who desire training in the field of education, are eligible for 1 of 15 new scholarships each year, not exceeding fees, room and board, at a State-supported educational institution for the requisite number of years required for a bachelor's degree. (Sec. 3, ch. 140, S.L.A. 1955; amended sec. 1, ch. 6 S.L.A. 1960.)]
