B. STATE-FINANCED SCHOLARSHIP/LOAN PROGRAMS

MINNESOTA

[From State laws: Children, with at least 2 years' State residence, of Minnesota veterans killed or died as result of military service may receive up to $250 a year to defray tuition and other expenses at State colleges (Minn. Stat. Annot. §§197.09-197.11 (1959)).

[Veterans of World War I, World War II, or Korea may receive the same educational benefits unless such expenses are paid for under any Federal education program (Minn. Stat. Annot. §197.75 (1959)).

[$1,000 total assistance for a professional program and $300 for a practical nursing program are available to resident students of ability and financial need accepted for accredited school of nursing (Minn. Stat. Annot. §148.286 (1962)). [Minnesota students of one-fourth or more Indian blood attending advanced or specialized education in accredited or approved college, business, technical, or Vocational schools may receive up to $800 a year for 4 years (Minn. Stat. Annot. $124.48 (1949)).

[Any resident of the State graduated from the Minnesota Braille and sight-saving school, upon compliance with all other requirements, shall be entitled to pursue any course of study in the State university without expense for tuition (Minn. Stat. Annot. §248.03 (1959)).]
