STREET RAILWAY CONDITIONS IN THE DISTRICT OF COLUMBIA.

MONDAY, JUNE 4, 1917.

UNITED STATES SENATE,
SPECIAL COMMITTEE,
Washington, D. C.

The committee met, pursuant to adjournment of Saturday, June 2, 1917, at 10 o'clock a. m.

Present: Senator Pittman.

Also present: Messrs. James H. Vahey and M. F. Mangan, counsel representing the railway employees; Messrs. John S. Barbour and George P. Hoover, counsel representing the railway company, and Mr. William McK. Clayton, representing Federation of Citizens' Associations.

Senator PITTMAN. The committee will adjourn until to-morrow morning at 9.30 by reason of the fact that there is not a quorum present, as Senator Hughes is still confined to his residence by illness, and Senator Jones has met with a slight accident which prevents him from attending this morning, and Senator Johnson and Senator King are absent from Washington on official business.

Thereupon, at 10.05 o'clock the committee adjourned until tomorrow, Tuesday, June 5, 1917, at 9.30 o'clock a. m.
