Mr. Heacock moved to amend the Journal by inserting after the names of the new Senators the number of the district and the counties they represent.

Mr. Crandall moved to amend page one by inserting in Mr. Heacock's motion the word "statute" instead of the word "Constitution."

So ordered.

Mr. Goucher moved to amend by inserting in lieu of the statement that he presented the certificate of election of C. L. Pond, that he presented a certified copy of his certificate of election and a certificate of his death.

So ordered.

RESOLUTION.

Mr. Dray offered the following resolution:

Resolved, That the Secretary of the Senate be directed to notify the Assembly that the Senate was organized on Monday, January 5, 1891, and is ready to proceed to business, with the following officers:

Mr. De Long offered the following concurrent resolution:

Resolved, That the Senate, the Assembly concurring, hereby agrees to meet in Joint Convention, at two o'clock and thirty minutes P. M., this day, for the purpose of canvassing the returns for Governor and Lieutenant-Governor.

Adopted.

MOTION.

Mr. Goucher moved that a committee of three be appointed to wait on the Governor and notify him of the organization of the Senate.

So ordered.

COMMITTEE.

The Chair appointed as such committee: Messrs. Goucher, De Long, and Campbell of Siskiyou.

RESOLUTIONS.

Mr. Dray offered the following resolution:

Resolved, That a committee of three be appointed by the President of the Senate, to confer with a like committee from the Assembly and the Inaugural Ball Committee of Sacramento City, upon the inauguration ceremonies.

Adopted.

The Chair appointed as such committee: Messrs. Dray, Dargie, and Goucher.

Mr. Heacock offered the following resolution:

Resolved, That John Reith, Jr., and W. G. Kinsell be and they are hereby elected Assistant Minute Clerks of the Senate, at the same per diem as Minute Clerk, the same to be paid out of the fund for contingent expenses of the Senate.

Mr. Seawell moved to amend the resolution by substituting the names of J. D. McPike and V. Ryan.

Lost.

Mr. Heacock's resolution was then adopted by the following vote:

Mr. Seawell moved to amend by inserting the name of Lee Brown in lieu of those named in the resolution.

Mr. Streeter's resolution was then adopted by the following vote:

Mr. R. H. Campbell offered the following resolution:

Resolved, That Miss Agnes Vance be and is hereby appointed Assistant Postmistress of the Senate, at a per diem of four dollars, the same to be paid out of the Contingent Fund of the Senate.

REPORT OF SPECIAL COMMITTEE.

The committee appointed to wait upon the Governor reported that they had carried out the request of the Senate, and the committee was discharged.

RESOLUTIONS.

Mr. Bailey offered the following resolution:

Resolved, That Mrs. Elma Glover be and is hereby appointed Assistant Enrolling Clerk of the Senate, at the same per diem as the Enrolling Clerk, to be paid out of the Contingent Fund of the Senate.

Mr. Seawell moved to amend by inserting in lieu of Mrs. Elma Glover the name of M. B. Bransford.
