THEATER/AUDITORIUM: EAST-WEST CENTER

Accommodates 610 seats with expansion to 750. Buildings will have full stage facilities for Eastern as well as Western theatrical productions, motion picture projection and general auditorium use. Building is also completely air conditioned. Constructed of reinforced concrete poured-in-place, precast units, posttensioned and pretensioned beams; concrete block interior walls; plaster partitions and plaster suspended ceilings; ceramic tile floors and base in toilet room; metal and marble toilet partitions; wood plank stage floor; acid stained concrete floor slabs; elevator orchestra pit; wood and metal doors; wood windows; stage equipment; theater lighting and equipment; projection booth; air conditioning; fire sprinkler system; special wood treated screening with removable panels; insulated built-up roofing; metal hatchways.

TRANSIENT QUARTERS AND LOW-RISE DORMITORY: EAST-WEST CENTER

Transient quarters consist of 25 units and 72 single rooms with bath for visiting scholars. To be converted to 120 single rooms when faculty apartments are available. Associate architect: Haydn Phillips. Construction includes 10-passenger capacity elevator; reinforced concrete, poured-in-place, precast units; concrete block walls; plaster partitions; sliding aluminum doors and windows; wood and metal doors; metal hand railing; metal roof hatchways; insulated built-up roofing.

Low-rise dormitory will house 120 women students in 10 student units with bath and living room facilities. Lounge gamerooms, and housemother's apartment on ground floor. Associate architect: Frank Slavsky. Construction of reinforced concrete poured-in-place and precast units; masonry interior and exterior walls; plaster partitions; vermiculite ceilings; ceramic tile wainscot and floors in bathrooms; cabinet and millwork; laminated plastic; metal toilet partitions; aluminum sliding doors and windows; wood doors and jalousies; acid stained concrete floors; insulated built-up roofing; general finish paint.
