The Honorable ROBERT A. TAFT,

Chairman, United States Senate Committee

on Labor and Public Welfare:

I would appreciate it very much if you would have this enclosure from the Right Reverend Raphael Heider, O. S. B., president, St. Martin's College, Lacey, Wash., considered at the proper time and entered in the proceedings of the day or hearings if such is the case.

The Honorable WARREN G. MAGNUSON,

Senate Office Building, Washington, D. C.

WARREN G. MAGNUSON.

ST. MARTIN'S COLLEGE, Lacey, Wash., March 28, 1947.

MY DEAR SENATOR: As originally established, the program for assisting schools in securing necessary equipment for the education of veterans is to close March 31. Under the program, the Federal Works Agency operated under CPA Direction 23 to very considerable advantage for educational institutions. The United States Office of Education has enjoyed a top priority and has done excellent work in assisting us to carry on our educational program. I desire, at this time, to urge upon you the necessity that the program continue beyond the end of this month. Kindly make known to the members of the Senate Committee on Labor and Public Welfare and other necessary committees the urgency of extending the termination of the program to a later date. Assuring you of my appreciation for your work in this matter, I remain

Very truly yours,

X

(Rt. Rev.) RAPHAEL HEIDER, O. S. B., President.
