Perfons holding Penfions heretofore granted (Exception) on obtaining Penfions under this Act, to relin

quish such previous Penfions, and the fame to go to Confolidated Fund.

Order of Treafury in respect thereof valid,

fhall be granted continuing to hold fuch Office; and that every Grant of any Penfion made under this A&t fhall also contain a Provifion and Limitation for the Sufpenfion of such Penfion during the Period of the Perfon to whom the fame is granted holding any Office, Place or Employment under His Majefty, the Salary or Profits whereof fhall be not lefs than double the Amount of fuch Penfion, and fhall alfo contain a Provifion and Limitation for the Abatement of One Half of the Penfion granted, during the time any Perfon having any fuch Penfion fhall continue to hold any Place, Office or Employment under His Majefty of equal or greater Amount in Salary, Profit or Emolument than the Amount of fuch Pension and no Grant of any fuch Pension shall be valid unless such Grant fhall contain fuch Provifions and Limitations as aforefaid.

IX. And be it further enacted, That if any Penfion fhall be granted under the Provifions of this A&t to any Perfon holding any Office, Place or Employment, or any Offices, Places or Employments, for the Abolition or Regulation of which any Provision shall have been made by any Act or Acts of Parliament which fhall have been paffed in the present Seffion of Parliament, or which shall have been included and returned in the Lift made out and certified under the Provifions of this A&; then and in every such case all the Interest of such Perfon in fuch Office or Offices, Place or Places, Employment or Employments, fhall, upon and from the time of the Receipt of any Payment to fuch Perfon in refpect of fuch Penfion, wholly cease and determine; and every such Office, Place or Employment, which fhall by the ceafing of fuch Intereft become vacant, shall thereupon be abolished or regulated according to the Provifions contained in relation thereto in any fuch Act or Acts of Parliament as aforefaid of this prefent Seffion of Parliament.

X. And be it further enacted, That all the Right, Title, Claim and Intereft of any Perfon to whom any Penfion fhall be granted under the Provifions of this Act, in every other Penfion which may be held by fuch Perfon (other than and except fuch Penfion or Pensions as are or may be charged by any Act or Acts of Parliament upon the Consolidated Fund) fhall, upon and from the Commencement of any Penfion granted under the Provifions of this Act, wholly ceafe and determine; and the Amount of every fuch Penfion fhall, from and after fuch Determination thereof, and during the Period of the Interest of such Person in fuch Penfion, go to and make Part of the Confolidated Fund of the United Kingdom of Great Britain and Ireland; and the Lord High Treasurer or Commiffioners of His Majefty's Treasury of the United Kingdom of Great Britain and Ireland, or any Three or more of them for the time being, shall and they are hereby required in every such case to order and direct the retaining in or paying into the Receipt of the Exchequer, to the Credit of and as Part of the faid Confolidated Fund of the United Kingdom, the Amount of every fuch Penfion during the Period of the Interest of such Person therein, and fo long as fuch Perfon would have been entitled to hold, take and receive the fame under any Letters Patent, Warrant, Inftrument or Grant by which fuch Perfon held or received fuch Penfion; and all fuch Orders and Directions fo made by the Lord High Treasurer or Commiffioners of the Treasury fhall be valid and effectual, and be carried into Execution by all Perfons concerned in the iffuing or paying any fuch Penfions; any

thing contained in any Act or Acts of Parliament, or Letters Patent, Warrant, Inftrument or Grant, or Law or Cuftom, to the contrary notwithstanding.

XI. And be it further enacted, That every Penfion granted under Penfions under this Act payable this A&t shall be issued and payable out of and charged and chargeQuarterly out of able upon the Confolidated Fund of the United Kingdom of Great the Confolidated Britain and Ireland, next in Order of Payment to and after paying Fund, free from or referving fufficient to pay all fuch Sums of Money as have been Taxes. directed to be paid by any former A&t or Acts, but with Preference to all other Payments hereafter to be charged thereon as aforefaid; and the fame fhall from time to time be paid and payable quarterly, free and clear of all Taxes and Deductions whatsoever, at the four ufual Days of Payment in the Year; (that is to say) the Fifth Day of January, the Fifth Day of April, the Fifth Day of July, and the Tenth Day of October, in each and every Year, by even and equal Portions.

XII. And be it further enacted, That it fhall be lawful for the Lord High Treasurer, or the Commiffioners of the Treafury of the United Kingdom of Great Britain and Ireland for the time being, or any Three or more of them, and they are hereby authorized and required, by Warrant under their Hands, to direct Debentures to be made forth and paffed by the proper Officers at the Receipt of His Majefty's Exchequer from time to time, for paying the faid feveral Penfions or Sums of Money in manner as aforefaid, and as the same shall from time to time become due and payable, according to the true Intent and Meaning of this Act, without any Fees or Charges to be demanded or taken for paying the fame or any Part thereof; which said Warrants and Debentures to be made forth and paffed thereupon refpectively, fhall be fufficient Authority to the feveral and respective Officers of the Receipt of the Exchequer, now and for the time being, for the Payment of all fuch Penfions or Sums of Money at the respective Days in this Act before appointed for fuch Payments, without any further or other Warrants to be fued for, had or obtained in that behalf.

XIII. And be it further enacted, That after the figning of any fuch Warrants or Debentures respectively, the fame fhall be good, valid and effectual in Law, according to the Purport and true Meaning thereof and of this Act, and fhall not be determinable or revocable by or upon the Demife of His Majefty (whom God long preferve) or any of his Heirs or Succeffors, or by or upon the Death or Removal of any of the faid Commiffioners of the Treafury or the Lord High Treasurer, or by or upon the Determination of the Power, Office or Offices of them or any of them.

XIV. And be it further enacted, That the faid Commiffioners of the Treasury and Lord High Treasurer, Chancellor and Under Trea furer, Chamberlains and Barons of the Exchequer, and all other the Officers and Minifters of the Court of Exchequer, and of the Receipt thereof, now and for the time being, fhall and they are hereby authorized and strictly enjoined and required to do, without Fee or Reward, all fuch Acts, Matters and things as are hereinbefore directed and required, or shall be neceffary to be done and performed by them or any or either of them, in order to render this Act and the several Payments hereby directed effectual.

And be it further enacted, That the Acquittance or Acquittances, Receipt or Receipts of the Perfon or Perfons to whom any fuch Penfions fhall have been granted as aforefaid, shall be good and fufficient Discharges for the Payment of the said Penfions refpectively before mentioned, without any further or other Warrant to be fued for or obtained in that behalf; and that the faid feveral Penfions, and every Part thereof fhall be clear and free from all Taxes, Impofitions and other Charges whatfoever; and in cafe any of the Officers of the Receipt of His Majesty's Exchequer shall refuse or neglect to pay any fuch Penfion, or any Part thereof, according to the true Intent and Meaning of this Act, or to do any Act neceffary to enable any Person to whom any fuch Penfion fhall have been granted as aforefaid to receive the fame, then any fuch Person as aforefaid may from time to time fue, profecute and implead fuch Officers or any of them, their Heirs, Executors or Adminiftrators, by Bill, Plaint or Action of Debt, and fhall and may recover Judgment, and fue out Execution thereupon against fuch Officers respectively, their refpective Heirs, Executors or Administrators, for so much of any such Penfion refpectively, then due and owing, or any Part thereof, as fhall be in the Hands of the Officer or Officers of the Receipt of the Exchequer, at the time or times when fuch Demand fhall have been legally made for Payment of any fuch Penfions, or any Part thereof as aforefaid, or for the Refufal or Neglect to do any Ac necessary to be done by any fuch Officer or Officers respectively.

· XVI. And Whereas it is expedient that Accounts should be from time to time laid before Parliament of the various Offices which may be abolished or regulated by or under or in pursuance of any of the Provifions of any Act or Acts of Parliament which Certified Lifts of may be paffed in the prefent Seffion of Parliament; Be it therefore enacted, That within One Month after the Expiration of the prefent Seffion of Parliament, a Lift fhall be made out and certified by the Commiffioners of His Majefty's Treafury of the United Kingdom of Great Britain and Ireland, or any Three or more of them for the time being, and returned to and entered in the Exchequer, of all Offices and Places which have been abolished, or for the Abolition or Regulation of which any Provifion fhall have been made by any Act or Acts of Parliament which fhall have been paffed in the prefent Seffion of Parliament; and the Lord High Treasurer of the Commencement United Kingdom, or Commiffioners of His Majefty's Treasury of of every Seffion, the United Kingdom, or fome Three or more of them for the time being, fhall within Six Weeks after the next Seffion of Parliament cause Accounts to be laid before both Houses of Parliament of every Office contained in fuch Lift, together with every Office dependent upon any Office contained in fuch Lift, which shall have been abolished or become vacant, and been regulated under or in pursuance of the Provifions of any Act or Acts of this prefent Seffion of Parliament since the paffing thereof respectively; and fhall alfo from time to time caufe like Returns to be made to both Houses of Parliament within Six Weeks after the Meeting of every fubfequent Seffion of Parliament, until all the Offices contained in fuch Lift, and all Offices dependent upon any fuch Offices, fhall have been abolished or regulated in manner directed by the faid Acts of Parliament.

Reign of His present Majefty, intituled An A&t for enabling His Majefty to difcharge the Debt contracted upon His Civil Lift Revenues, and for preventing the fame from being in Arrear for the future, by regulating the Mode of Payments out of the faid "Revenues, and by fuppreffing or regulating certain Offices therein men• tioned which are now paid out of the Revenues of the Civil List: And Whereas it is expedient to make Provision for enabling His Majefty to grant a competent Salary to the Perfon holding the 'Office of Vice Prefident of the Committee of Council appointed for "the Confideration of Matters relating to Trade and Foreign Plantations, in confideration of the Duties and Refponfibility attached to the faid Office;' Be it therefore enacted by The King's Moft Excellent Majefty, by and with the Advice and Confent of the Lords Spiritual and Temporal, and Commons, in this prefent Parliament assembled, and by the Authority of the fame, That it fhall be lawful for His Majefty, by any Order or Warrant under His Royal Sign Manual, counterfigned by the Lord High Treasurer, or by the Commiffioners of His Majefty's Treasury of the United Kingdom of Great Britain and Ireland, or any Three or more of them for the time being, to order and direct that the Vice Prefident of the Committee of Council, appointed for the Confideration of Matters relating to Trade and Foreign Plantations, for the time being, shall have a Salary not exceeding Two thousand Pounds, to be paid and payable out of the Fee Fund of the Council Office; and such Office shall not, by reason of fuch Salary being annexed thereto, be deemed a new Office: Provided always, that no fuch Order or Warrant, or Receipt Not to be con-of Salary under the fame by the Perfon holding fuch Office at the fidered a new time of paffing this Act, fhall make void the Election of any fuch Office. An Act to regulate certain Offices, and abolith others, in His
Majesty's Mints in England and Scotland respectively.

HEREAS the Duties of the Office of Warden of His Majefty's Mint in England have been heretofore ufually executed by Deputy; and several of the faid Duties have, under • an Order of His Royal Highnefs the Prince Regent in Council, • and certain Indentures of the Mint made in pursuance thereof, been • transferred to the Mafter and other Officers of the Mint: And • Whereas an A&t paffed in the Fourteenth Year of His prefent Majefty's Reign, intituled An Act for regulating and afcertaining the Weights to be made use of in Weighing the Gold and Silver Coin of this Kingdom: And Whereas the Duties required by the faid A&t to be performed by the faid Warden may be executed by the Master of the Mint or his Deputy; and it is therefore expedient • that the said Office of Warden fhould, upon the Termination of the prefent exifting Intereft therein, be abolished:' May it therefore pleafe Your Majefty, that it may be enacted, and be enacted by The King's Moft Excellent Majefty, by and with the Advice and Confent of the Lords Spiritual and Temporal, and Commons, in this present Parliament assembled, and by the Authority of the fame, That the faid Office of Warden of His Majefty's Mint in England fhall, upon den of the Mint the Termination of the prefent exifting Intereft therein, be wholly abolished; and that from and after the paffing of this Act, all the Duties required to be performed by the faid Warden, under or by virtue of the faid recited Act of the Fourteenth Year of His prefent Majefty's Reign, fhall be performed by His Majefty's Mafter and Worker of the faid Mint, or his Deputy; and for that Purpose all the Powers and Authorities belonging or appertaining to the faid Office of Warden of the Mint, whether fuch Powers and Authorities, or any of them, are required to be executed and performed by the faid Warden alone, or by the faid Warden in conjunction with the faid Mafter, or with any other Perfon or Perfons whomfoever, fhall immediately from and after the paffing of this A&t become and be and remain vested in His Majefty's Mafter and Worker of the faid Mint for the time being, without any fpecial or other Appointment for that Purpose, or in that behalf; and every fuch Mafter and Worker for the time being, or his Deputy, fhall and he is hereby authorized, empowered and required to perform all fuch Duties, and for that Purpose to use and exercife all fuch Powers and Authorities, and to do and perform all fuch Acts, Matters and things as may be neceffary in that behalf, as the faid Warden might have done either in conjunction with or feparately from the said Master or any other Perfon or Perfons: Provided that fuch Mafter and Worker, or his Deputy, fhall not be entitled to, nor fhall have, take or receive
