1 These statistical surveys obtain the specified type of information incidental to acquiring information on farm and family operations as part of ERS research activities. Questionnaire forms are usually destroyed on completion of the research projects.

The Federal Extension Service maintains no informations on individuals as defined in the instructions for the Subcommittee on Administrative Practice and Procedure questionnaire.

Minor, Assistant Administrator for Management. Subject: Senate subcommittee questionnaire re information maintained on individuals.

The attached table is submitted in response to your memorandum of August 24. It has been prepared in accordance with subcommittee's instructions, supplemented by advice from Mr. Wylie of your staff. We have not included the following types of information for reasons indicated:

1. Mailing lists-these generally show only name and address of the recipient; occasionally title or organizational affiliation may be shown.

2. Inactive applications from individuals not employed by FAS-this information usually consists of forms SF-57, sometimes supplemented by letters from or to the applicants.

3. Security classifications or Office of Inspector General reports any information in our files is obtained from the Office of Inspector General or Office of Personnel; we assume these offices will report to you on these types of information.

4. Lists of "Debarred and Ineligible Bidders" prepared by the Office of Plant and Operations. While we maintain and refer to current listings we do not have the source data, and assume this information will be furnished by Plant and Operations. If further information is desired concerning any of the entries on the attached table, please call Mr. Dashner, Extension 2741.
