DEPARTMENT OF AGRICULTURE

ASCS AGRICULTURAL STABILIZATION AND CONSERVATION SERVICE Inventory of information on individuals in the records of Federal agencies

Claims against farmers under CCC and
ASCS programs (debt file folders).
Tort claims filed against CCC and ASCS by
individuals.

Suspension and/or debarment of individ-
uals under CCC regulations.
Farm folders maintained by ASCS county
offices containing data on participants
in programs administered by ASCS.

*Less than 50,000.

NOTES

1. Reflects code numbers listed in "Appendix" which may be contained in the subject files. The
information contained in any one file may vary considerably as compared to another file depending
on the type and number of programs involved.

2. In 1965 there were approximately 4,923,000 ASCS farms. A farm file folder is required on each
farm. Inasmuch as the farm file may contain information on more than 1 individual (landlord, tenant,
sharecropper, etc.) we have rounded our estimate to 5,000,000.

3. The farm file folder as defined above is maintained on a 5-year history basis; therefore, inas-
much as many of the programs are on a crop-year basis and would require the submission of new
or supplementary documents, we have shown the accession rate to be the same as the number of
individuals covered (5,000,000).

4. Considered administratively confidential.

5. Farmers engaged in the production of corn, wheat, cotton, rice, peanuts, or tobacco for market
shall furnish such proof of their acreage, yield, storage, and marketing of the commodity in the form
of records, marketing cards, reports, storage under seal, or otherwise as the Secretary may prescribe
as necessary for the administration of this title. Such data shall be kept confidential. (See 7 U.S.C.
1373 (b) and (c).)

6. All data maintained in file other than that described in note 4 is considered administratively
confidential,
