A Symposium on Fire Safety Research was held at the National Bureau Standards (NBS), on August 22, 1973. The Symposium's participants e NBS staff as well as outside contributors affiliated with the NBS e program including representatives from private industries, universis, government agencies, and the National Fire Protection Association. : papers covered topics in hazard analysis, standards development, me chemistry, fire modeling, fire detection, physiological effects of e, fire services, effect of fire on building materials, and field instigation methods for firefighters. Specifically included were papers ling with the development of the Children's Sleepwear Flammability andards and mandatory sampling plans, mechanisms of flame retardants, me spread and radiant panel test methods, contribution of interior ish materials to fire growth, a field study of non fire-resistive tiple dwelling fires, the Research Applied to National Needs (RANN) Ogram of NSF, and other related topics.
