AGRICULTURAL RESEARCH Grant program to encourage cooperative development and marketing ef

forts among manufacturers, private and government laboratories, universities, and financiers to assist in bridging the gap between research results and marketable, competitive products and processes (10.240, Alternative Agricultural Research and Commercialization Program).

AVIATION RESEARCH

Program designed to encourage and support innovative and advanced

research in areas such as capacity and air traffic control technology, communications, navigation and surveillance, security technology, etc.; also, Centers of Excellence established for long term continuing research in specific areas of technology (20.108, Aviation Research Grants; 20.109, Air Transportation Centers of Excellence).

COMMUNITY DEVELOPMENT

Project grant program to help community-based organizations increase

their capacity to carry out housing and community development activities, and to assist these organizations achieve long term financial support for their activities. The activities must benefit low and moderate income persons within the neighborhood (14.242, John Heinz Neighborhood Development Program).

FAMILY RESOURCE

Project grant program to provide support to States for the purpose of de

veloping, expanding and operating a network of local family resource and support programs in collaboration with existing health, mental health, education, employment and training, child welfare and other social service agencies within the State (93.580, Family Resource and Support Program).

FLOOD DISASTER

Program set up to ensure that communities participating in the Nation

al Flood Insurance Program (NFIP) are achieving flood loss reduction measures consistent with program direction (83.105, Community Assistance Program-State Support Services Element (CAP-SSSE).

FLOOD WARNING

Program set up as a joint undertaking by the National Weather Service

and the participating States to improve flood warning capabilities in the Appalachian region (11.450, Integrated Flood Observing and Warning System (IFLOWS).

FORESTRY

Program to provide accelerated assistance to communities faced with

acute economic problems associated with Federal or private sector land management decisions and policies or that are located in or near a national forest and are economically dependent upon forest resources (10.670, National Forest-Dependent Rural Communities).
