[SEC. 16. The Reconstruction Finance Corporation is hereby authorized and

State law, for the purpose of payment of teachers' salaries due prior to June 1,
1934: Provided, That the aggregate [sic] amount of such loans at any time
outstanding shall not exceed $75,000,000. Approved June 19, 1934.]

[Reconstruction Finance Corporation authorized to make loans in an aggregate
amount not exceeding $10,000,000 to the benefit of tax-supported public-school
districts. The amounts to be allocated equitably in States, Territories, and
District of Columbia, on the basis of demonstrated need. Such loans shall be
made for any such district or authority or any State, municipality, or other pub-
lic body which is authorized to incur indebtedness for the benefit of public schools
to reduce and refinance outstanding indebtedness or obligations which have been
incurred prior to the enactment of this Act for the purpose of financing the
construction, operations and/or maintenance of public school facilities.]
