ADDITIONAL COLONIAL BISHOPRICS.

1 THE Archbishops and Bishops forming the committee appointed to arrange measures in concert with her Majesty's government, for the erection and endowment of additional bishoprics in the colonies and dependencies of Great Britain, deem their appointment, to report the progress which, by it right, at the expiration of a year from the time of God's blessing, they have been enabled to make towards the attainment of the great object proposed. In the autumn of last year, her Majesty was pleased to issue her royal letters, erecting New 9 Zealand into a bishopric, and the Rev. George 10 Augustus Selwyn, having been consecrated first ib. Bishop of that see, embarked on the 26th December 11 in the same year for his diocese, accompanied by five clergymen and three catechists, being candidates for holy orders. One-half of the requisite endowment of this see, namely, 600l. a-year, will be provided by a special contribution to the fund from the Church Missionary Society, until they shall be enabled to redeem this annual payment by a grant of land producing an equal revenue.

The ECCLESIASTICAL GAZETTE is published on the SECOND TUESDAY IN EVERY MONTH, and may be obtained at sixpence per number, or six shillings per annum, by ordering it of any Newsman in the Kingdom.

It is also sent regularly every month, free of all charge, to the Resident Parochial Clergyman of every Parish throughout England and Wales.

One Guinea paid in advance will be received as a Subscription for four years.

Advertisements will be received at the Office, in Southampton-street, until the Saturday previous to the day of Publication.

the endowment of this see the committee have
