Resolve laying a Tax on the several Counties of the State.

Resolved, That the sums annexed to the counties in the follow- County taxes. ing schedule, are hereby granted as a tax on each county respectively, to be appropriated, assessed, collected and applied for the purpose of paying the debts and necessary expenses of the same, and other expenses ordered by law, to wit: Androscoggin, thirty thousand dollars; Aroostook, thirteen thousand five hundred dollars; Cumberland, seventy-one thousand eight hundred and sixty dollars; Franklin, four thousand dollars; Hancock, twelve thousand dollars; Kennebec, forty thousand dollars; Knox, eighteen thousand dollars; Lincoln, ten thousand dollars; Oxford, twelve thousand dollars; Penobscot, fifty thousand dollars; Piscataquis, six thousand dollars; Sagadahoc, sixteen thousand dollars; Somerset, thirteen thousand five hundred dollars; Waldo, eighteen thousand dollars; Washington, ten thousand dollars; York, twenty-five thousand dollars. Resolve in favor of the Joint Standing Committee on the State Prison. Resolved, That the state treasurer is hereby authorized and directed to pay to Abel Prescott the sum of seventy-one dollars and five cents, it being for expenses incurred by the committee visiting the state prison the third day of February, eighteen hundred and seventy-six.

Town of Frenchville, in aid of bridge in.

Chapter 163.

Resolve in aid of building bridge over Gagnon stream, in the town of Frenchville. Resolved, That there be paid from the state treasury, to the treasurer of the town of Frenchville, the sum of two hundred dollars, whenever the county commissioners of Aroostook county shall certify to the state treasurer that said town of Frenchville has built a good and substantial bridge over Gagnon stream, in said town.

Chapter 164.

Resolve in aid of road in Frenchville.

Resolved, That the sum of two hundred dollars be and the same is hereby appropriated for the purpose of rendering the highway road, in the town of Frenchville, safe and passable, at the point where the same runs between a high ledge of rocks and the St. John river; said sum to be paid to the treasurer of said town, when the county commissioners of Aroostook county shall certify

Evans, is the actual owner of certificate of lot number eight, range four, in the east half of township number two, range five, and shall have paid to the land agent the sum of twenty-five dollars, the land agent be and is hereby authorized to convey, by deed, lot number eight, range four, in the east half of township number two, range five, to the said Winfield S. Evans.

Chapter 169.

Resolve in aid of the Maine General Hospital at Portland.

Resolved, That there be appropriated and paid out of the state treasury, to the trustees of the Maine general hospital, the sum of ten thousand dollars, and that the governor is hereby authorized to draw his warrant on the state treasurer for the same.

Resolved, That the sum of four thousand nine hundred and thirty-four dollars be, and the same is hereby appropriated for the use of the Maine Industrial School for Girls, at Hallowell, to meet the current expenses of the ensuing year, the same to be expended by the trustees of said school; provided, the trustees will make to the governor and council a full and detailed report of the expenditure of the above appropriation.
