Harold T. Johnson, (chairman of the subcommittee) presiding. Mr. JOHNSON. The Subcommittee on Irrigation and Reclamation will come to order. The purpose of our meeting is to hear testimony in support of H.R. 2474 by Mr. Hansen and Mr. McClure, and S. 432 by the Senators from Idaho that is pending before the subcommittee. It passed the Senate on June 28, 1971. The subcommittee field hearings were held in Twin Falls on March 11 and we received very favorable testimony when we were there in the district. There was very little in the way of opposition. I would ask that H.R. 2474 be printed in the record and proper references made to S. 432, and also the report that was received on June 15 from the Department signed by Assistant Secretary Smith, with favorable consideration also of the Office of Management and Budget since they had no objections to the report being sent up to the subcommittee. I would ask that it be placed in the record at this point. Is there objection? Hearing none, so ordered. (H.R. 2474 and the Department document follow :) (105) |
