The subcommittee met, pursuant to notice, at 10 a.m., in room 1324, Longworth House Office Building, Hon. Ed Edmondson (chairman of the subcommittee) presiding.

Mr. EDMONDSON. The Subcommittee on Mines and Mining will come to order.

This morning our hearing is scheduled on H.R. 10950 by the chairman and others, H.R. 6788 by Mr. Saylor and others, and S. 635, to establish mining and mineral research centers, to promote a more adequate national program of mining and minerals research, to supplement the act of December 31, 1970, and for other purposes.

If there is no objection, the text of H.R. 10950 and of S. 635 and the departmental report will be made a part of the record at this point. Hearing no objection, so ordered.
