The center of population in Wisconsin in 1885 was in township No. 15 north, range No. 13 east, town of Green Lake, Green Lake county. In 1895 the center of population had moved 2.57 miles to the north and .12 of a mile to the west. In 1840 the average population per square mile in the state was 0.51; in 1850, 5.61; in 1860, 14.25; in 1870, 19.37; in 1880, 24.16; in 1890, 30.98; and in 1895, 35.59.
