ESCHEATED ESTATES.

To take charge of all matters pertaining to escheated estates: § 1213 C. L.

To make investigation and inquire in every county concerning escheated estates: § 1214 C. L.

To institute proceedings for the administration of escheated estates: § 1215 C. L.

To have the general supervision of estates of persons dying intestate: § 1216 C. L.

To protect the interests of the State in uncalled for deposits of money, and securities made by any depositor with any person, copartnership, company or corporation who shall be engaged in the business of banking in this State: § 1217-1221 C. L.

To commence any action for the collection of penalties provided for in Secs. 1213 to 1235, inclusive,-being "An act for the ascertainment and protection of the interests of the State in escheated estates:" § 1220 C. L.

Relief of Insolvent Debtors.

Authorized to represent the people in all proceedings brought for the relief of insolvent debtors, upon proper notice being served upon him: 9644 C. L.

Costs, in Certain Cases.

Duty of in case of bill of costs to certify that such suit or proceeding in which such costs were contracted was duly instituted: § 10,398 C. L.

Insufficient Securities.

Where insufficient securities are taken, Attorney General's duty, in certain cases, to proceed against any officer receiving them, after having reasonable ground to doubt their sufficiency: § 10,922 C. L.

Partition of Lands.

His duty to certify all costs and expenses which may be chargeable against the people of this State in any proceeding for the partition of lands: § 11,091 C. L.

Banks and Banking Law.

Trespassers on Public Lands.

Authorized to move for change of venue in prosecutions for cutting timber on public lands: § 11,753 C. L.

CORPORATIONS AND ASSOCIATIONS.

RAILROAD COMPANIES-DUTIES CONCERNING.

To bring action against railroad companies for failure to take the proper steps to protect the lives and property of persons at railroad crossings, upon the failure of the prosecuting attorney so to do: § 5504 C. L.

Upon request of Commissioner of Railroads, to prosecute for the violation of the railroad law: § 5225, 6272, 6280 and 6347 C. L.

BUILDING AND LOAN ASSOCIATIONS.

Upon notice of State Treasurer of improper conduct of business of loaning societies, to institute proceedings for their dissolution: § 6212 C. L.

Upon Cue notice of Secretary of State of the fact that such corporation is doing business contrary to law, to take proper steps to revoke their charter: 7597 C. L.

In concurrence with the Secretary of State for reasonable cause, to take proper steps for winding up the business of foreign corporations in this State: § 7600 C. L.

CHARITABLE AND BENEVOLENT ASSOCIATIONS.

Authorized to require a full and accurate report of their affairs: § 8263 C. L.

Authorized to require a full statement, under oath, of the affairs of any corporation organized under an act for the incorporation of charitable societies, and to enforce penalty for failure to comply: § 8269 C. L.

Home for Aged.

Upon request of Secretary of State to enforce penalty against such corporation for failure to make an annual report of its affairs as required by law: 8277 C. L. §

HOSPITALS AND ASYLUMS.

Authorized to require a full statement of their affairs, under oath, and to enforce penalty for failure to file such report: § 8295 C. L.

BANKS AND BANKING LAW.

To have supervision of all suits under the banking law: § 6139 C. L.

FRATERNAL BENEFICIARY ASSOCIATIONS.

Upon being informed by the Commissioner of Insurance of their failure to make report as provided by law, to commence an action against such associations to enjoin the same from carrying on any business in this State: 7756 C. L.

STATE BAR ASSOCIATION.

Upon request of Attorney General, State Bar Association required to make full statement of its affairs under oath; and his duty to enforce penalty for failure so to do: § 7729 C. L.

POLYTECHNIC ASSOCIATIONS.

Authorized to summarily investigate the affairs of any such corpora

tion, and to examine witnesses on oath touching same, without the necessity of commencing legal proceedings: § 8188 C. L.

YOUNG MEN'S CHRISTIAN ASSOCIATIONS.

Authorized to require a full statement of its affairs: § 8351 C. L.

STUDENTS' CHRISTIAN ASSOCIATION-UNIVERSITY OF MICHIGAN.

Is authorized to require full statement of its affairs: § 8361 C. L.

CORPORATIONS FOR INSTRUCTION IN THE TREATMENT OF DISEASE. Authorized to prosecute for penalty for failure to file report verified by oath, as required by law, and also empowered to sue for fine for failure to report any material change in the attitude of the corporation toward the State: § 8438 C. L.

MECHANICAL ASSOCIATIONS.

May require a report of the affairs of such associations: § 7430 C. L.

May take proceedings for forfeiture of charter of mechanics' association for failure to make report: § 7430 C. L.

MISCELLANEOUS.-In re CORPORATIONS AND ASSOCIATIONS.

Preceedings Against in Chancery.

Empowered to file bill against corporations restraining them from assuming to exercise any franchise, liberty or privilege, etc., not legally authorized; and in same manner to restrain individuals: § 9755 C. L.

Authorized to prosecute corporations in behalf of the people for certain violations of law or irregularities: § 9759 C. L.

Authorized to proceed against corporations for any unlawful combination: 11,381 C. L.
