(see 8.33-53 and 8.33-54). A vocational certificate shall be required of all teachers in reimbursed departments and granted upon the recommendation of the Director of Home Economics.

(1) Temporary vocational certificates valid for one year, may be recommended by the Director of Home Economics when the candidate has completed the cadet teaching, special methods courses, has a plan for completion of the requirements, and is recommended by an approved

institution.

(2) Vocational certificates valid for five (5) years, may be recommended by

the Director of Home Economics when the candidate has completed the four-year required program for vocational homemaking teaching as set forth in this Plan and the candidate has been recommended by an approved institution. Completion of the fifth year is required for the first renewal. For renewal thereafter the teacher must, within the five-year period immediately preceding the request for renewal, have completed a minimum of one year of successful teaching in the home economics field and have earned a minimum of seven (7) quarter hours or five (5) semester hours including home economics and/or home economics education. When granted prior approval by the Director of Home Economics, enrollment in certain home economics courses of less than college grade and work on State vocational homemaking teacher curriculum committees may apply toward partial renewal requirements for a vocational certificate. (For vocational homemaking teachers returning after an absence of ten (10) or more years see 1.53-26(b)).

(b) Vocational certificates shall be issued to teachers of secondary school classes for gainful employment and teachers of outof-school groups.

(1) Vocational certificates valid for one
year may be recommended by the
Director of Home Economics when
the applicant has met the qualifications
in this Plan under 1.53-27 and 1.53-28
where applicable. When the applicant
does not meet the qualifications of
(a) or (b) or (c) of 1.53-27 and 1.53-28,
he may be evaluated for certification
on the recommendation of a representa-
tive advisory committee and the local
school administrator by the Director
of Home Economics.

(2) Vocational certificates valid for
three (3) years may be recommended
by the Director of Home Economics
when the applicant has been recom-
mended by the local school administra-
tor, held a one-year vocational certi-
ficate within the preceding two (2)
years and has had one hundred twenty
(120) clock hours of teaching experience.

(3) Vocational certificates valid for
five (5) years may be recommended
by the Director of Home Economics
when the applicant has been recom-
mended by the local school administra-
tor; held a three-year vocational
certificate within the preceding two
(2) years; had vocational teaching
experience of one hundred eighty
(180) clock hours during the life of
the previous certificate; and had
six (6) quarter credits or sixty (60)
clock hours of teacher training
courses approved by the Director of
Home Economics including methods
of teaching and special training
courses related to the field in which
the teacher is qualified.
