NOTE 1.-The form in which funds are received, whether in cash or by check, must be stated; if any portion is by check it must be described.

NOTE 2.-All transfers of funds must be effected by an actual transfer of cash, or by a check upon a public depository, which must be immediately transmitted by the payee to be placed to his credit.

By direction of the Secretary of War the following regulation is added to those prescribed in General Orders, No. 50, of 1881, from this office (modifying paragraphs 2150 and 2184 to 2191, inclusive, of the Regulations):

The Subsistence Department will sell to the Quartermaster's Department at cost price such quantities of matches as may be required by the latter department for issue to troops for lighting fires and lamps in barracks and quarters where fuel and lights are issued by the Quartermaster's Department, exclusively. The issues will be made upon the certificates of commanding officers as to the quantities required for these purposes only. (See form annexed.)
