IV. UNIVERSITY INDENTIFICATION (Form) IV-2a. Name of Pre-service Program Director - the person principally responsible for the day-to-day educational and operational deci sions for pre-service throughout its operation. Ideally, he should be the same person as Person to be contacted and In-ser vice Program Director. IV.-2b. Proposed Pre-service Starting Dates - The date interns must register or begin classes (whichever is first) and the date experienced teachers report to the university. It is assumed that programs prefer experienced teachers arrive several days to one week before the interns, to permit their integration into pre-service instruction. IV-2c. Proposed Pre-service Ending Date The last date the interns receive instruction. Stipends will end on this date. IV-2h. Most Corps members have had no experience in teaching and are unprepared to make definitive educational choices immediately on entering the Corps. It is hoped that a number of programs will give Corps members a general introduction to teaching, and permit them to make their final decision about specialization after they are assigned to in-service. Typically, the Number of Corps members for pre-service during in-service (including a 10-20 percent addition for attrition during pre-service). The minimum represents the university's estimate of the smallest program it can percent higher than the "desired" figure. IV-2j. Professional staff Includes consultants and other non - faculty members assuming instructional and counselling roles. This computation excludes experienced teachers. IV-2k.
