This Institution was founded in the City of New York in 1847. Its professed objects are the improvement of Medical Science in its several departments of Medical and Surgical knowledge, the elevation of Medical requisitions for the advancement of the practical purposes of the healing art, and the diffusion of sound principles among its cultivators. The President of the Society upon its first organization was, in

The University of the State of New-York, was created by an Act of the Legislature in 1787, and a Board of Regents appointed.
