INTRODUCTION Statistical Notes published by the Division of Biometry, National Institute of Mental Health, are relatively brief presentations of data dealing with specific topics and have been published, as the data became available, since January, 1969. Since over 100 Notes have been published to date, this Index, a classification by subject and type of facility, has been prepared in an attempt to facilitate locating the information that is contained in the different Notes. Many of the items, included under "Subject" are explained on page 5 in Definitions. To use this Index effectively it may be necessary, in some instances, to check more than one subject category in order to find the appropriate Notes. For example, to determine where to find the number of residents under 18 in private mental hospitals: For the column Private Mental Hospitals, check the rows The title of those Notes can be found in the Statistical Notes Index, page 2. Copies of individual Notes or bound sets of 25 each are available on request. This guide will be updated periodically. Your comments to improve by change or addition are welcomed. Please send them to the address indicated below. Requests for data that are not included in these Notes may also be made, since the Division of Biometry has available many other reports and unpublished data.
