INTRODUCTION

The application of this Universal Plant Design requires site adaptation work in both Technical and Non-Technical areas.

The Technical Specification must be adapted to suit the salt water temperature, and mineral content as well as other site parameters. The Bidding Specification must be adapted to suit the local legal structure, the Owner-Engineer Contractor relationships and the final bidding arrangements.

For these reasons, the following Bidding Specification is presented as a guide, check list of prototype to serve as a foundation for writing the actual Bidding Specification for the site. Several blank spaces appear which must be filled in with appropriate information. These the Engineer and Owner will have to determine and insert.

There are many other paragraphs which may have to be altered or omitted to suit the desired plan of construction and legal considerations.

We have included in this Specification, the Bidder's Specification Sheets which should accompany the requests for bids. These sheets are to be sent to the Bidders, marked with asterisks beside each item of information that the Engineer wishes the Bidder to supply with the Bid. When each Bidder returns his Bid with the Bidder Specification Sheets properly filled in, the Engineer may more easily evaluate the bids.
