OPENING REMARKS OF SENATOR BAYH

Senator BAYH. We will convene our hearing this morning with a special word of thanks to the chairman of the subcommittee, Senator Magnuson, for permitting these hearings to be held. I know he would like to be here himself and if he has a chance in the course of his other commitments, he will stop by.

I appreciate the cooperation from the commission as well as the rest of the committee and staff.

We appreciate Congressman O'Brien expressing his interest by taking the long walk over here from the other body to attend these hearings.

Indeed, I think we all know that Huntington's disease and other genetic diseases are going to be conquered through the cooperative
