warehouse commissioner, from the earnings of the grain inspection and weighing department paid into the state treasury, for salaries and expenses of state grain inspection and weighing at Sikeston, Charleston, Dexter, and Oran and Malden, Missouri, or other points for which appropriation has not been made for state inspection and weighing of grain, the sum of twentyfive thousand dollars, ($25,000.00); provided, that no more. shall be drawn against this appropriation than is paid into the state treasury by said department from its earnings at such state grain inspection and weighing points, the intention being that the fees earned or guaranteed at such inspection and weighing points and paid monthly into the state treasury shall equal or exceed the amount appropriated for the purpose stated herein, hereby making the inspection and weighing of grain at such points self-supporting from the fees earned and turned into the state treasury monthly from such grain inspection and weighing points within the state.

Sec. 63. Relief of sheriffs, deputy sheriffs, constables and marshals. There is hereby appropriated out of the state revenue fund the sum of for the payment of the following claims of sheriffs, deputy sheriffs, constables and marshals in the apprehension of criminals, as follows:

Sec. 66. Auditing department-corporation, franchise and income tax. There is hereby appropriated out of the state treasury, chargeable to the state revenue fund, the sum of seven thousand ($7,000.00) dollars to the auditing department of the state, as follows: For salary of supervisor of corporation, franchise and income tax, four thousand eight hundred ($4,800.00) dollars; for traveling expenses of such supervisor, within the state, postage, express, and other expenses necessary, two thousand two hundred ($2,200.00) dollars.

Sec. 67. Relief of sheriffs-relief of Ben E. Crouser of Holt county, Mo.-There is hereby appropriated out of the state treasury, chargeable to the state revenue fund, the sum of one hundred ten and 93-100 ($110.93) dollars, for the relief of Ben E. Crouser, sheriff of Holt county, Mo., for the apprehension of criminals, as per accounts now on file in the office of the state auditor.

Sec. 68. Relief of sheriffs-relief of A. J. Matthews, of Dent county, Mo.-There is hereby appropriated out of the state treasury, chargeable to the state revenue fund, the sum of seventy-seven and 35-100 ($77.35) dollars, for the relief of A. J. Matthews, sheriff of Dent county, Mo., for the apprehension of criminals, as per accounts now on file in the office of the state auditor.

Sec. 69. Relief of sheriffs-relief of A. M. Sims, of St. Clair county, Mo.-There is hereby appropriated out of the state treasury, chargeable to the state revenue fund, the sum of one hundred eighty-eight and 45-100 ($188.45) dollars, for the relief of A. M. Sims, ex-sheriff of St. Clair county, Mo., for the apprehension of criminals, as per accounts now on file in the office of the state auditor.

Sec. 69a. Relief of sheriffs.-Relief of C. H. Jones, sheriff of Buchanan county, Missouri, 1913 to 1916, inclusive, for expenses incurred in attempting to return Stave Lance and Max Dragositeo from Detroit, Michigan, to St. Joseph, Missouri, for trial, a sum of two hundred fifty-three ($253.00) dollars.

Sec. 70. Relief of Frank Parmon.-There is hereby appropriated out of the state treasury, chargeable to the state revenue fund, the sum of forty-five and 50-100 ($45.50) dollars, for the relief of Frank Parmon on account of services rendered as clerk of the house for thirteen (13) days during the session of the 49th general assembly, for which house script No. 1081, dated March 13th, 1917, was issued to the said Frank Parmon, and which has not been presented to the state treasurer for payment, same having been lost or destroyed and the state treasurer is hereby directed to refuse payment on the house script above mentioned should it be presented to him for payment.

Sec. 71. Relief of Thomas Kierns.-There is hereby appropriated out of the state treasury, chargeable to the state revenue fund, the sum of three hundred ($300.00) dollars, for the relief of Thomas Kierns on account of plans and estimates furnished by him for the heating plant of capitol building.

Sec. 72. Relief of the Central Missouri Trust Company.There is hereby appropriated out of the state treasury, chargeable to the state revenue fund, the sum of sixty-nine and 30-100 ($69.30) dollars, for the relief of the Central Missouri Trust Company, for the payment of a special tax bill held by them on account of improvement of state property in the Wood Lawn Cemetery Association, Jefferson City, Mo.

Sec. 73. Relief of Gus G. LeCompte and others.-There is hereby approprated out of the state treasury, chargeable to the state revenue fund, the sum of two hundred seventeen and 57-100 ($217.57) dollars, payable to Gus G. LeCompte for his services as stenographer in taking and transcribing the testimony before the special commissioner in the habeas corpus proceeding instituted in the supreme court of Missouri and entitled ex parte S. P. Howell and Lee B. Ewing, petitioners, vs. Antone B. Richter, sheriff of Cole county, Missouri; and the further sum of thirtynine and 42-100 ($39.42) dollars payable to Virgil V. Huff, to cover necessary hotel and traveling expenses of the said special commissioner incurred while in the performance of his official duty; and the further sum of seventeen and 80-100 ($17.80) dollars, for fees of witnesses for attendance before the special commissioner in said proceeding, as follows:

and the further sum of five hundred dollars ($500.00) payable to Virgil V. Huff, as compensation for his services as special commissioner of the supreme court of Missouri, in the above entitled

cause.

Sec. 74. Relief of Paul O'Day.-There is hereby appropriated out of the state treasury, chargeable to the state revenue fund, the sum of one thousand six hundred eighty ($1,680.00) dollars, for the relief of Paul O'Day, on account of moneys expended by him as prosecuting attorney of Greene county, Mo., in the prosecution of Claude G. Piersol, who was convicted of the kidnapping of baby Keet.

Sec. 78. Relief of Mrs. P. P. Lewis.-There is hereby appropriated out of the state treasury, chargeable to the state revenue fund, the sum of one thousand two hundred ($1,200.00) dollars, for the relief of Mrs. P. P. Lewis, widow of P. P. Lewis, on account of the loss of six head of registered cattle, condemned and slaughtered under the direction of the state veterinarian in the manner provided by law, except that on account of the lack of a thorough knowledge of the laws relating to the proceedings in such cases, the said P. P. Lewis permitted the cattle above mentioned to be appraised, and afterwards slaughtered under the direction of the state veterinarian, by appraisers duly appointed for the appraisement of other condemned cattle belonging to him without first having obtained an order of the county court for the appointment of appraisers, such cattle having been appraised at $1,200.00.

Sec. 79. Relief of Nat Goldstein.-There is hereby appropriated out of the state treasury, chargeable to the state revenue fund, the sum of five hundred forty-eight ($548.00) dollars, for the relief of Nat Goldstein on account of the refusal of Elliott W. Major, at that time governor of Missouri, to issue a commission immediately after the election of said Nat Goldstein to the office of circuit clerk of the city of St. Louis; said Nat Goldstein having been duly elected to such office on the 7th day of November, 1916, and finally commissioned to such office on the 7th day of January, 1917, the refusal of the governor to issue said commission as the law contemplates resulting in the loss of the emoluments of said office amounting to the relief sought for.

Sec. 81. Relief of the Union Pacific Railroad Company. There is hereby appropriated out of the state treasury, chargeable to the state revenue fund, the sum of ten thousand eight hundred and fifty-four dollars and twenty-five cents ($10,854.25) payable to the Union Pacific Railroad Company for reimbursement to said company of the fee paid to the state of Missouri in Oc
